TECH360 THURSDAY
Speakers and panelists to discuss latest trends in the business
Some of the region’s top IT professionals will gather Thursday at Penn State Great Valley to discuss developments in the industry.
The all-day Tech360 event will feature speakers from the FBI, Wawa, Cerner, Vanguard, Navigate, SeventySix Capital, Independence Blue Cross and more.
Tech360 bills itself as the Philadelphia suburbs’ premier innovative business technology conference. It attracts IT professionals and industry innovators from the area’s top companies.
Topics covered include cyber security defense updates, big data, blockchain, design thinking, Amazon Web Service, IT leadership, and the latest in the
local tech sector.
They’ll also discuss how to best leverage new technology in a local business climate dominated by issues like Amazon’s expansion and Equifax data breaches.
Sessions, which run in the university’s conference center from 8 a.m to 6 p.m., include:
• FBI — Trends in Cyber Crime, presented by Supervisory Special Agent Ben Stone;
• Wawa — Keynote: Mobilizing Your Business, presented by Senior Manager of IT and Engineering Eric Barnes;
• Vanguard — Creating Business Value at Start-up Speed, presented by Principal of Technology Transformation John Buhl;
• Cerner Corp. — What Escape Rooms Can Teach Us About the Enterprise Software User, presented by Senior User Experience Designer Alan Hutto.
Tech360 sponsors include Cerner, Evolve IP, Vanguard, Select Greater Philadelphia Council, Curotec, LBDesign, VISTA. Today and LoanLogics.
Tech360 is presented by ITAG and i2n. Both are nonprofit initiatives of the Chester County Economic Development Council.
Analysis by the Economy
League of Greater Philadelphia shows that more than 102,000 people in the region work in IT occupations and area employers have added 25,000 new tech jobs since 2002 — equivalent to 25 percent of all net job growth during that period, organizers of Tech 360 said.
Projections indicate that over the next 10 years, the region could see 26,000 to 44,000 job openings in IT, between new jobs and replacement openings as workers retire.
