Read what friends and neighbors are saying

Take a look at what friends and neighbors have to say about local hot topics and join in on the conversation.

I read where the Pottstown Borough Council capped the tax hike at 18.6 percent, lower than the 23 percent Flanders warned about. That figure is still too high, enough to force some seniors out of their house. I agree with Sheryl Miller about cuts being made to the administration, too many assistants. Then you have Ryan Procsal saying it won’t be more than 18 percent. He’s got some nerve. I’m still waiting for a good answer why The Hill School doesn’t have to pay taxes. Reedy

In response to the Sound Off caller saying Trump diminishes the moral standard in this country, apparently you have a bad memory, as President Clinton was impeached after his sex scandal that he was caught up in.

I’d like to propose a change to the driving laws. When you go to take your driver’s test let’s do away with parallel parking and instead have yielding and merging. If you can’t yield and merge you should not be driving.

After reading the Sound Off comments it is painfully obvious that our country is divided. However before there is division there must be fractures. The fractures started during the Clinton era, the division occurred during the Obama era. It is obvious that Trump is not the divider for if the nation was divided, he would have clearly not won the election. Unfortunately the Jay Millers, the lefties, are so politically blind they will never understand or grasp that. Paul Revere

Lady Di, you tell somebody to get over it. I suggest you get over it. The man has not been in office a full year yet and has made everything a shambles. He is disrespectful and does not play with a full deck.

With everyone rightfully being outraged with the Republican congressman accused of sexual assault, I was wondering where was that outrage, especially among the LCDs (Liberal Crying Democrats) when years ago Ted Kennedy swam for his life leaving a young coed to drown as well as the unending list of Bill Clinton’s accusers of sexual misconduct? So much for the liberal media and it’s protectionism. Would not an ethical person like you Jay Miller agree?

Hey KM, the Democrats have diminished moral standards in this country for 50 years between the entertainment industry and the news media unquestionably.

Praise to the carrier of the Mercury in Elverson. We have always gone out into the woods looking for our paper, putting coats and hats on, and you know us old people have a tough time with that. But boy it sure looks like this winter we’re going to be able to handle it just fine because whoever delivers the paper now does an absolute splendid job. We thank them and thank them. Steve from Elverson

Fox News is up to their old tricks again. Fox News and Hannity have spent the better part of the year making excuses for Trump’s scandals and lack of accomplishment. Now they’re going to use the old Uranium One conspiracy to distract us from the Russian investigation, Roy Moore and the disastrous tax reform plan. When things get tough you can count on conservative Republicans to use any bogus issue to avoid the truth. Welcome to the new nothing-burger. Lefty

I’m calling to honor a dentist, his name is Edward C. Lomire, DMD. In October he and his staff gave a couple of days toward veterans. He and his staff were very kind and professional. They did a great job on my teeth so I want to thank Dr. Edward C. Lomire and his staff for a job well done. Veteran C.

Sure is taking President Trump a long time to weigh in on the Roy Moore problem they have in the Senate race. Do you think it could be because he was once in the same kind of situation and now he’s trying to find a rock to hide under? A pot can’t call the kettle black. What a great country we live in now.

The Nov. 16 USA Today front headline says “Taxpayers are paying lawyers to protect Donald Trump’s profit.” Taxpayers are footing the legal bills for at least 10 Justice Department lawyers and paralegals to work on lawsuits related to Trump’s private businesses. Deplorable. Jay Miller

I‘ve noticed that a lot of my friends have wrinkled skin now that they’re getting older. I am so lucky. At the age of 70 I don’t have any wrinkles at all. I have character lines.
