Sam Ott, 80, of Pottstown
Sam Ott, 80, of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Twp., and formerly of Limerick, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at Seasons Hospice.
Born in Schwenksville, he was the son of the late Christopher and Lydia (Updegrove) Ott.
Sam loved working at his family greenhouse and in 1965, he purchased Ott Wholesale Greenhouse from his parents and became owner and operator till he retired in 2014. He was also a jack of all trades and full of knowledge. He was a member of the Pottstown Quiot Club, Lower Pottsgrove Sportsman Club, Gilbertsville F.C. and German Club. It was Sam’s dream to rebuild a farmhouse and in 1989 he purchased the property with his partner Sue. In 1992 he moved into it and lived there ever since. He was proud of his 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Newport that has been in the family since it was purchased. Sam was the type of man that would touch your heart and if you ever met him, he would be someone you wouldn’t forget. Hewill be sadly missed by many family and friends.
Surviving is son Dewaine Ott, husband of Patty; grandson James Ott, husband of Melissa and granddaughter Ashley Dyer; great grandchildren Madison, Trevor and Hunter Ott and Naomi and Bryce Dyer; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
A funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 11:00 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilbertsville. Burial will follow in Schwenksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the funeral home.
