Substance violations top crime in borough

POTTSTOWN » Drug and alcohol violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, nine incidents involving drug or alcohol violations occurred since Nov. 14. Four of those nine incidents involved drug possession, which were reported on the 100 block of North Hanover Street, South Franklin Street, East High Street and Beech Street. Public drunkennes­s was reported on West Fourth Street, King Street, the 200 block of North Hanover Street and North Evans Street. One drug sale was reported on the 400 block of East High Street.

Assaults were the second most reported crime in Pottstown involving five incidents since Nov. 14. Three non-aggravated assaults occurred on Moser Road, Chestnut Street and North King Street, while one incident involving a firearm was reported on the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. One assault involving the use of hands, feet and fists was reported on the 200 block of Isabella Street.

DUI and fraud were each reported twice over the past week with DUIs occurring on the 100 block of East High Street and North Hanover Street and fraud reported on the 1200 block of North Franklin Street and the 1200 block of Center Avenue.

Robbery, vehicle break-ins, harassment, vehicle theft, weapons offenses and criminal mischief were all reported once. A robbery involving a firearm was reported on East High Street while a vehicle break-in occurred on East Second Street. Harassment was reported on the 600 block of North Evans Street along with a vehicle theft on the 300 block of New Street. A weapons offense was reported on the 200 block of East High Street and criminal mischief was reported on the 200 block of King Street.
