Inaugural Bruce Rogers Memorial to kick off Grandview season

BECHTELSVI­LLE » The man who, along with his father Forrest, built Grandview Speedway will be remembered with the 1st Annual Bruce Rogers Memorial on Saturday, April 7th with a 75 lap race featuring both Big and Small Block Modifieds. The race will pay $7,500 to win.

For 55 years Rogers with support from his wife Theresa and in recent year’s family members operated the one-third-mile, banked clay speedway turning it into one of the most successful short track operations in the nation.

The rules for the race will be similar to the October Thunder on the Hill race. There will be no NASCAR sanction involved with the season opener and no license will be required.

It is expected that the Memorial will attract a stellar field of racing talent as the greatly respected Rogers is remembered.

Additional details on the April 7th Rogers Memorial will be announced in the near future along with the purse breakdown and rain date.

In other news track management has set Saturday, March 31st for the traditiona­l season starting “free to the public” practice session with a noon time start.

And the popular Freedom 76 Classic is set for Saturday, September 15th with a rain date of September 22nd. The event pays in excess of $25,000 to win.

Season tickets are now on sale at $350 which will include a reserved seat ticket for all Saturday night racing events which will feature NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars.
