I enjoyed reading Tom Hylton’s advertorial in Tuesday’s Mercury. It was a lot of information I didn’t realize — 16 officers earning more than $100,000 last year. Police officers are enjoying the borough’s fastest growing salaries and benefits but the one that stood out was out of 45 uniformed officers only one lives in Pottstown. Time to tighten the belt. All the employees should have to live in the borough, that way they can also enjoy the tax the rest of us are facing.

On Monday we received our mail in West Pottsgrove around 8:15 p.m. I’d like to say to all the people that live here please put your lights on for the mail people. They don’t choose to work these long hours. This is a holiday season and so much mail is going and coming they’re forced to work it. Thank you very much for your kindness and we hope that this soon ends where they can get home at a decent hour for dinner with their families.

For all the people complaining about getting your mail late do you really think that the mailmen like to work from 7:30 in the morning until 8:30 at night? Being a wife of a mailman it’s pretty hard. They don’t like to be out there all day and after dark but it is Christmas season, volume is heavy, so just bear with them. They do the best that they can with what they have. It’s better than not getting your mail at all.

I went for my yearly physical last week. When the doctor finished his exam he said I was in good shape for the shape I was in but I did have a slight case of Dunlap’s disease. I asked what the heck is Dunlap’s disease. He said, “That’s when your stomach dun laps over your belt.”

So the tax cut was cut in the middle of the night when all of us are asleep, or most of us. This is how the income tax came about about 100 years ago, and we just have to keep on getting kicked in the pants.

Well it looks like Donald Trump has put his foot in his mouth again and he has fattened his lawyer to take the fall for him. The truth will come out. It’s bad enough that your president is a liar. He is turning everyone around him into liars. Disgusting.

I think that it’s about time that anyone in sports that gets caught using steroids should be fired. That tennis player girl, she got fired. Where is everybody else getting fired? Look at the swimmers, they get away with it and they keep their medals. That’s unfair.

I’m glad to see Trump is endorsing child molester Roy Moore. When he endorses someone they usually lose the election. He was banned from the mall. What does that tell you?

I just heard that the president wants to open up all the national parks for drilling for financial purposes for the money that can be had. Our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren if they want to go out West to see the Grand Canyon they’ll see oil rigs. They’ll see drilling. This is what the president thinks. Money, money, money. He can leave today and nobody would miss him.

I see the VA doctors just hired a new surgeon. Only one problem he lost his license in Wyoming and they hired him in another state and he’s done surgeries and he botched them already and people died. I thought Trump was supposed to hire nothing but the best. This is according to USA Today on Dec. 4. Another winner, hiring junk doctors who get rejected from other states. Sad case. Jay Miller

I read in Sound Off all the comments made about Tom Hylton by Billy the Kid. I happen to agree with everything Billy the Kid said about Mr. Hylton. High Plains Drifter

I agree with you Al.

I have to say that all these accusations about sexual harassment are troubling. I personally know several men who have been falsely accused. Also if your evidence is true let it be examined. Trump’s accusers scattered when he said he would sue after the election. Unfortunately we live in a time where lying is all too common in all areas of life. And what are our children learning — sexting, hooking up and friends with benefits. Wake up people. Lady Di

Messages to our senior citizens in Sound Off are questionable. Most senior citizens do not have a computer. They cannot afford to buy a newspaper and to go to the library to use a computer would be an all-day trip and for them it would be too much. Do you see what I mean?
