Man jailed for sexual contact with teen

NORRISTOWN » An Ambler man is behind bars after he admitted to having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in the borough.

Marc David Frey, 21, of the 200 block of South Main Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 11½ to 23 months in the county jail, to be followed by seven years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to charges of statutory sexual assault and indecent assault of a person less than 16 in connection with incidents that occurred in March 2017.

The sentence was imposed by Judge Gary S. Silow, who accepted a plea agreement in the matter. Frey, who was 20 at the time of the incidents, also must undergo a psychosexual evaluation and comply with all recommendations for treatment, the judge said.

The judge ordered Frey to have no contact with the victim as a condition of the sentence.

An investigation began in April when the 14-year-old girl’s mother contacted Ambler police to report that she learned that Frey had sexual contact with her daughter on two occasions in March. Frey, according to the criminal complaint, knew the girl’s family for several years.

During subsequent interviews by detectives and child social workers, the girl said the inappropriate sexual contact occurred at two different borough residences while the girl was in Frey’s company, according to the criminal complaint filed by Ambler Detective Chad Cassel.

The victim’s mother told detectives that Frey, having known the victim’s family, was aware that the girl was 14 years old.

When detectives interviewed Frey he admitted to one of the sexual encounters but denied the second one, according to court documents.

Under state law, by pleading guilty to statutory sexual assault, a felony charge, Frey admitted that he engaged in sexual contact with someone who was under 16 years old at a time when he was four or more years older than the victim.
