Assault leads crime in Pottstown in past week

POTTSTOWN » Assault was the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, six assaults were reported since Dec. 5. Five of the six assaults were non aggravated and were reported on the 800 block of Glasgow Street, North Franklin Street, the 1000 block of Center Avenue and two incidents on Robinson Street. The sixth incident involved the use of hands, feet and fists and was reported on the 700 block of North Washington Street.

Drug and alcohol violations and theft were both reported five times each over the past week. Four thefts from buildings were reported on the 200 block of Chestnut Street, the 300 block of High Street, the 500 block of North Franklin Street and the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue. A theft of bicycles was reported on the 700 block of North Washington Street. Three incidents involving drug possession were reported on East High Street, the 400 block of Elm Street and West Fifth Street. Public drunkennes­s was reported twice on the 700 block of East High Street and the 1600 block of East High Street.

Burglary and vehicle thefts were each reported twice since Dec. 5. Burglaries involving forced entries were reported on the 300 block of East High Street and the 1100 block of Center Avenue. Vehicle thefts were reported on King Street and South Mt. Vernon Street.

Harassment, vandalism and fraud were each reported once over the past week. Harassment was reported on the 800 block of South Street while criminal mischief to vehicles occurred on the 200 block of Beech Street. Fraud was reported on the 200 block of East High Street.
