‘Santaland Diaries’ at Steel River Playhouse Dec. 17 to 30
Abonus holiday gift this season with only four performances in the Newberry Loft, Steel River Playhouse presents “Santaland Diaries.” An alternative holiday celebration, this one-man play based on an essay by popular humorist David Sedaris about the author’s experiences as an unemployed writer taking a job as an elf at Macy’s in N.Y. Spend a little time with Crumpet – one of Santa’s little helpers as he handles the hordes of holiday shoppers and their insufferable kiddies with whacked out, wicked wit. A winking take on how the holiday season brings out the best – and the worst – in us all.
Steel River veteran Brian Rock stars in this hilarious adult one-man show. Brian is thrilled to be returning to Steel River Playhouse this holiday season. Previously, Brian was seen at SRP as Lord Leonard Aster in Peter and the Starcatcher and as King Triton in The Little Mermaid. Other recent and favorite roles include Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, John Wilkes Booth in Assassins, Hamlet (and others) in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged (Playcrafters of Skippack), Edward Rutledge in 1776 (Dutch Country Players), and Max in Lend Me A Tenor (Barley Sheaf Players), Neville Craven in Secret Garden (Civic Theatre). www.brianrockactor.com.
