PJP girls rally past Pottstown, 42-31

The Pope John Paul II girls basketball team used a 14-0 run during the decisive third quarter Monday night to put the clamps down on a 42-31 win over Pottstown in a Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division clash.

Monica Rapchinski led the way with 18 points while Kayla Mesaros finished with eight as PJP (1-0 PAC Frontier, 3-1 overall) broke open a 24-24 contest at the half. Julia Owens and Elise Sylvester added six points apiece in the win. Ebony Reddick paced Pottstown (0-1, 3-2) with 18 points while Emme Wolfel followed with seven. UNIONVILLE 43, UPPER MERION 40 » Jordan Wilson and Maddie Harvey combined for 25 points as the Vikings came up just short against the Indians in non-conference play.

Wilson scored a team-high 13 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the foul line, while Harvey followed with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Upper Merion held a twopoint lead at the half but was outscored 14-9 during the third quarter. Tymeriah Stanton added eight points in the loss.
