LaRue D. Schlegel, 83, of Douglassville

LaRue Dawn Schlegel, 83, of Douglassville, and formerly Turbotville, PA passed away December 17, 2017. She was the widow of Leroy Francis Schlegel, who passed away in 1997. Born in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late C. Curtis and Ruth C. (Waldroff) Miller LaRue was a secretary for several organizations throughout her life, including the Shamokin Area High School, Grove Presbyterian Church, Danville (where she was a former member), and Penn State Extension in Creamery, PA. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, New Berlinville. She was also a Penn State Master Gardener.

Surviving are children: Daniel R. Schlegel, and his wife Wilma, of Auburn, PA; and Robert M. Schlegel, and his wife Faith, of Douglassville; brothers: Curtis Miller, and his wife Carol, of Galeton, MI; and Chester Miller, and his wife Marilu, of Allentown; and sister, Lois, wife of Dr. Tom Martin, of State College, PA; grandchildren: Shivaugn, Erin, Lauren, Vanessa, Christina, Diana, and Stephen; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Dawn Schlegel.

A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 611 Swamp Creek Road, Bechtelsville, PA 19505. A viewing will be from 10-11 AM at church. Private interment will be in the Odd Fellow’s Cemetery, Shamokin. The Falk Funeral Home, Pennsburg is in charge of arrangements.
