Substance violations top crime in past week

POTTSTOWN » Drug and alcohol violations were the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, substance violations were reported six times since Dec. 20. Three incidents involved drug possession on Wilson Street, North Washington Street and the 500 block of High Street. Two incidents of public drunkennes­s were reported on the 1400 block of East High Street and the 400 block of East High Street while one drug sale was reported on Queen Street.

Assault was reported four times over the past week including three cases of non-aggravated assault on the 500 block of Chestnut Street, the 100 block of North Adams Street and the 400 block of West Walnut Street. An assault with a knife was reported on the 1600 block of East High Street.

Burglary and fraud were each reported three times since Dec. 20. Burglaries involving no forced entry were reported on the 300 block of East High Street and the 500 block of North York Street while a burglary involving forced entry was reported on the 600 block of North Evans Street. Fraud reports included locations on the 500 block of Beech Street, the 200 block of West King Street and the 100 block of High Street.

Vehicle break-ins and theft were both reported twice over the past week. Vehicle break-ins were reported on the 100 block of North York Street and the 600 block of Upland Drive. A theft of bicycles was reported on the 700 block of North Washington Street and a retail theft occurred on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.

Vehicle theft, DUI, disturbing the peace and vandalism were all reported once. A vehicle theft was reported on East High Street while a DUI occurred on South Hanover Street. Disorderly conduct was reported on the 100 block of King Street and vandalism to buildings was reported on the 1200 block of Maple Street.
