Spring-Ford claims Penncrest Tournament

The Spring-Ford girls basketball team had the right balance of offense and defense Thursday night.

The Rams’ defense kept the host Tigers at bay as they won the championsh­ip game of the Penncrest Tournament, 51-32. Spring-Ford kept Penncrest out of double-figure scoring in all four quarters while taking a 27-15 halftime lead that went to 41-23 after three. Rachel Christman got a share of game scoring honors with her 11-point effort, Cassie Marte added nine and Abby Goodrich and Sarah Cooper chipped in with eight points apiece. OWEN J. ROBERTS 56, MARPLE NEWTOWN 26 » The Wildcats rolled the host Tigers behind Olivia LeClaire’s game-high 18 points.

Kylie Cahill also hit double figures with 10, and Hannah Clay chipped in with another nine to help OJR bolt to a 30-14 halftime lead. EXETER 41, POTTSTOWN 31 » The Trojans fell off the Eagles’ second-half scoring pace to fall in the Wyomissing Tournament thirdplace game.

Ebony Reddick scored 14 points to lead Pottstown, with Emme Wolfel adding seven more. DANIEL BOONE 38, BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 32 » Sydney Hayes hit for a game-high 12 points to key the Blazers’ victory over the Bullets in the Kutztown Tournament’s third-place game. Madison Spitko chipped in with another 10 for Boone, which used a 13-9 edge in fourth-quarter scoring to expand a tenuous 25-23 lead through three quarters. Skyler Emory helped the Blazer cause with eight points. UPPER MERION 43, WISSAHICKO­N 31 » The Vikings outscored their opposition in all four quarters on the way to a win in the Upper Merion Tournament.

Maddie Harvey led the way with a team-high 16 points with three 3-pointers while Jordan Wilson backed her with 14 points on a 4-for-5 showing from the foul line.

BOYERTOWN 47, GOV. MIFFLIN 40 » Jerry Kap and Marcus Thomas each scored 11 points to key the Bears’ victory over the Mustangs in the Boyertown Tournament.

Sean Tamasitis added nine points to help Boyertown go on a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter to erase Mifflin’s 38-31 lead. UPPER PERKIOMEN 55, FLEETWOOD 43 » Liam Boyle hit four straight 3-pointers in the first quarter to stake the Indians to a big lead they would never relinquish against the Tigers in the Fleetwood Tournament championsh­ip game.

Ryan Kendra had a game-high 30 points for Upper Perk (8-1), including all 14 in third quarter. Boyle and Kendra were named to the All-Tournament Team. Dante Graves kicked in another nine for PV, which saw a 23-20 halftime lead erased by Wissahicko­n hitting for 23 third-quarter points to the Vikes’ 13. Noah Kitaw led Methacton with his 12-point outing — all his scoring outside the 3-point arc — while Jeff Woodward added 10. POTTSTOWN 50, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 43 » The Trojans rode the 11-point efforts of Aaron Diamond and Pete Marcheskie to victory over the Warriors in the third-place game of the Great Valley Tournament.

Pottstown also got nine points apiece from Tyshaun Harve, Floyd Dashiell and Tre Bass as they opened a 25-18 first-half lead. OWEN J. Shyheed May hit for a game-high 18 points while Ryan Sayers added 13 points and Nick Massa 10. Alongside that, Roberts held Loyalsock to two points at the start of the second half, taking a 43-27 lead into the fourth after holding a 28-25 lead at the end of the first half. FRANKLIN 57, SPRING-FORD 55 » The Rams were unable to completely recover from a slow start in their second round game from the San Diego Slam & Surf tournament, coming up short of Franklin, Cal.

Trailing by a 13-4 count after one quarter, SpringFord reduced the deficit at the half to one point (2726), then rallied from a 4431 shortfall after three with a 24-13 edge in fourth-quarter scoring. Noah Baker had a game-high 22 points for the Rams, who now play noon Thursday in the Slam Division’s 3/5 game against Liberty, Wash. BOYERTOWN 88, EXETER 73 » Owen Miller figured in on four first-place finishes by the Bears as they outswam the Eagles in their nonleague meet.

Miller headed the 50 free and 100 fly in respective times of 22.80 and 56.08, then swam legs of Boyertown’s winning 200 medley relay (1:43.11) and the 200 free relay (1:33.39). Chris Scoboria was Exeter’s top swimmer with firsts in the 200 IM (2:04.34) and 100 back (57.88).

Girls swimming

BOYERTOWN 97, EXETER 68 » Gabrielle McKee won two individual events for the Bears in their non-League meet with the Eagles.

McKee took the 50 free (25.56) and 100 fly (1:00.87) while also swimming legs on Boyertown’s winning 200 medley relay (1:54.65) and 200 free relay (1:46.00). Brooke Bollinger won the 200 free (2:04.53) and 100 breast (1:09.54) to lead Exeter.
