Kelce, Foles still working to get on the same page

PHILADELPHIA » If you want to know what it’s like to catch a knuckleball, watch a replay of the last Eagles game.

Pay attention to the shotgun snaps.

Quarterback Nick Foles looked as clumsy as a skinny, 6-foot-5 guy can in trying to figure out the unpredictable, here it comes, there it goes action on Jason Kelce’s offerings.

Thankfully the adventure didn’t result in a turnover.

“Going back over the tape, I think the snaps were probably a little bit low,” Kelce said Thursday. “And also, we’ve seen this before, it was a really windy night. I don’t snap the ball with a spiral. Sometimes I think when the wind gets a hold of the ball it kind of knuckles. And it’s easy to kind of lose track of it for a split second.”

The wind was gusting out of the west at 15 m.p.h. Monday at Lincoln Financial Field. It grabbed hold of a Jake Elliott field goal attempt, spun it this way and that, and sent it into one of the tunnels.

The last thing the Eagles need is to challenge Foles with shoestring snaps. Then again, he got caught trying to read the opponent, too.

“Honestly, I just dropped a couple of them,” Foles said. “And that’s on me. I’ve got to look it all the way in. A lot of times you’re trying to look at the coverage at the same time. You’re looking to see if they’re moving their safeties late. So that’s on me.”

Kelce is confident the snaps won’t be an issue from here on out. More work in practice getting accustomed to the new starting quarterback certainly will help.

“We’re putting an emphasis on it this week,” Kelce said. “I’m going to do my best to try and put it where he wants it. But I’m not too worried about it.”

*** Tickets for the Eagles’ divisional round playoff game are on sale Thursday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m.

They can only be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.

General ticket prices range from $105 to $185 and standing room only tickets are $80. The limit is four tickets per household and all ticket sales are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Eagles open the tournament either Saturday, Jan. 13 or Sunday, Jan. 14. The times and dates will be determined.

*** NOTES » Eagles sacks leader Brandon Graham didn’t practice Thursday and is unlikely to play Sunday, although he wouldn’t rule himself out. Graham is nursing an ankle sprain … The low temperature forecast for Sunday afternoon in South Philly is 8 degrees. Not quite what the Cowboys (8-7) are accustomed to, as they have the option to close the roof at AT&T Stadium. Malcolm Jenkins, who played for the Saints squad that defeated the Eagles in bitter cold at the Linc in the 2013 season, said the cold is overrated. “The weather doesn’t dictate who wins football games,” Jenkins said. “Cold only bothers you if you let it. I think we kid ourselves and we just assume that because teams play in a dome that they’ll automatically come here and lay an egg. That’s not going to happen.” … For the Cowboys, Zeke Elliott needs 120 yards for a second straight 1,000-yard season. Dak Prescott s 18-3 in games where he doesn’t throw an interception, and 3-7 when he does … Finally, winning the Super Bowl would be worth $191,000 for the Eagles. The total is $219,000 for players on teams that win the division, win in the wild card round and prevail in Super Bowl LII at US Bank Stadium.
