Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home serves families at difficult times

-

ROYERSFORD The Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, located at Sixth Avenue and Washington Streets has served the Royersford community and surrounding areas for many years.

"Our staff serves families just like they were our own family," says Josh Klotzbach, co-owner and co-trustee of the funeral home. "We give each family the same care and considerations, and put our heart into making a very difficult time just a little easier.

"A call to a funeral home is probably the hardest call anyone ever has to make in their life, so it is very important to us right from the first call to months and some-times years of aftercare, that we do everything we humanly can for a family.

"Since everyone is different, so are their needs: For some it means I going to their home to make arrangements, others may need to find a clergy person to perform the service, or making all the necessary arrangements for transportation or a funeral luncheon.

"It can also mean assisting with travel arrangements to get a distant relative home in time, ordering flowers, customizing memorial folders, or working with small children the family may have, to help them through this. No matter what. . . if it is possible we will do it," states Klotzbach.

"Just as people change, so do traditions; this is also true in the funeral industry. Cremation is an option that families look to for several reasons. Cremation may be the family's tradition, or it may have been the request of the deceased.

"Whatever the reason, at our funeral home, one of the choices we offer to the families considering cremation is a viewing and a funeral service, followed by cremation. It allows the public to view and to pay their respects to the surviving family members, and the opportunity for closure, which is very important.

"We also are often contacted when a loved one will be moving into a assisted living or nursing home situation. At these times families have lots of questions, and we are here to answer them.

"We will work with a family who wants to pre-plan a service while their loved one is still coherent enough to make their own decisions. This is often the case where someone will include every detail down to the hymns they want.

"There are also times when someone is making pre-arrangements for a loved one who is no longer capable of doing so. Funerals can be pre-arranged and pre-paid if the person so chooses, or simply pre-arranged without pre-paying the charges."

There are four licensed funeral directors on staff: Damian M. Petaccio, F.D. supervisor; William E. Harner IV, F.D., Joshua T. Klotzbach, F.D., and Gerald J. Rafter F.D. and a full support staff.
