Substance abuse tops crime in the past week

Five incidents involving drug or alcohol violations were reported since Dec. 26, according to a tracking site.

POTTSTOWN » Drug and alcohol violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a policerun website used to inform the public about crime in their area, five incidents involving drug or alcohol violations were reported since Dec. 26. Four of the five incidents were reported cases of drug possession and were reported on the 100 block of Manatawny Street, East High Street, the 400 block of Laurel Street and Beech Street. Public drunkennes­s was reported once on North Franklin Street.

Disturbing the peace incidents and assault cases were each reported four times over the past week. Non-aggravated assaults occurred on West Fourth Street, the 300 block of North Charlotte Street, the 300 block of East High Street and the 1500 block of East High Street. Two cases of harassment were reported on the 400 block of Spruce Street and the 100 block of South Roland Street along with two cases of disorderly conduct on North York Street and the 100 block of East High Street.

Theft was reported three times over the past week including two retail thefts reported on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road and a theft from buildings on High Street.

DUI incidents occurred twice since Dec. 26. They were reported on the 200 block of High Street and an unspecifie­d block of East High Street.

A vehicle break-in was reported on the 1300 block of Queen Street while criminal mischief to vehicles was reported on Washington Street.
