Help Wanted signs abound, yet the workforce participation rate remains historically low. Why? Drug screening, skill sets incompatible with needs and a government which incentivizes individuals to not work. As GDP expansion requires corresponding labor participation, policies designed to address each issue should become apparent in 2018. Mark Furlong

To the people who complain about the post office, stamps are the main complaint. Stamps are still inexpensive. If you mailed a letter to California for instance take the letter by car and see how much it will cost you. Nobody knows or they don’t realize how much work they do inside the post office to get your mail through. Think about it. God bless.

Township commissioners in Lower Pottsgrove and Upper Pottsgrove are allowing our land to be gobbled up by developers at an alarming rate. I know you can’t stop people from selling their property but we could make more regulations and make it a little bit harder for the developers to come in and put houses up like dominoes.

This is a very short global warming. As far as global cooling, I’ll take global warming any day.

At the steel mill in Conshohocken, there are 207 workers. Soon there will be 57. I wonder if the 150 getting their pink slips voted for Trump making America great again. North Coventry Yankee

This is to the person who doesn’t know what Gov. Wolf has done for three years. Let me educate you a little bit. Just to name one thing he gave up his salary. Do you know any other governor who gave his salary up? Need I say anymore?

In Douglass (Mont.) in springtime of 2017 the road crew guys built on an addition to the recycle center. Was it needed? Then they tore down the old township building and sheds separately. Why? Using all their equipment, even the recycle center skid loader. All that extra abuse on their equipment was uncalled for when they could have used a contractor for that. When do the road crew guys find time to do actual township work? Where is the management? Concerned Taxpayer

President Trump may be a little off-the-wall but murders in Chicago were down 16 percent last year. Gun arrests were up 27 percent with over 8,000 guns confiscated. Unemployment rate was at its lowest in 10 years. The job market is at its highest in 10 years. Haters, try working with him not against him.

Lady Di, after reading your comment, it is really hard to believe that anybody could be so gullible.

I think it really is a disgrace the way the ladies on “The View” badger our president of the United States. I will not watch them at all anymore. They are a disgrace to the country the way they talk about the president of the United States.

Christmas Eve my husband went to pick up our chicken order from Redner’s. The lady behind the counter told him the order had been paid for. My husband was in the Vietnam war and didn’t get a lot of generous comments when he came home so I can’t tell you how much this meant to him. He really appreciated it and he made sure to tell everybody the story. Whoever paid for it we’d like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts and may they have a happy 2018.

I can’t believe people aren’t giving a cry-out to the YMCA in Pottstown with its closing in June. Why did they let repairs get to the cost of $11 million? Make repairs while they’re small and you wouldn’t have that problem. So many people benefited from the pools especially the warm water pool and hot tub. Let’s have a fund for saving the Y. You have it for everything else. The Y should be saved. It benefits many people.

With our frigid temperatures we need to check in on the elderly whether it is a neighbor, friend or family member to make sure they are OK. We may be busy with our own lives but we can’t assume that they are OK.

Peter Sellers made a movie that was called “The Mouse That Roared.” I’m thinking North Korea has been watching this movie for many decades. If you remember it, what do you think? Movie Goer

This is the Preacher/ Farmer. I wonder if you’ve ever told the truth. I didn’t think so.

As I was reading the New Year’s Day Sound Off, it’s the same old thing — Trump, Hillary, Clinton, Obama. Can’t we change the subject somehow in the future for 2018? Back Off

Five-hundred pages into the tax plan you say Jay Miller? You really read 500 pages of the tax plan? Come on.
