Shirley Marie Greiss, 78, of Barto

Shirley Marie (Smith) Greiss, 78, of Barto, formerly of Stowe, widow of Chester D. Greiss, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at her residence.

Born in Topton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clayton M. Smith and the late Minnie (Rothermal) Delp.

Shirley worked as a sewing machine operator for Life Wear, Inc. for twenty three years, retiring in 2009.

She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of Friendship Hook & Ladder, Boyertown.

She is survived by three sons, Michael J. Greiss and his wife, Margie, PA, Todd S. Greiss and his wife, Kathy, NC, and Glenroy S. Greiss and his wife, Dawn, Bath, PA; four daughters, Brenda Livingston, Barto, Wanda, wife of James Ziss, Pottstown, Donna, wife of Clifford Craft, Birdsboro, and Doreen wife of John Hoffman, Downingtown; a stepson, Karl E. Greiss, MD; a stepdaughter, MaryLou Levan, Birdsboro; 24 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two infant daughters; a brother, Herman Smith; and a sister, Anita DeFrain.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown. Officiating will be the Rev. Barry Moyer. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. There will be a viewing Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
