Charles J. McCarthy Jr., 90, of South Coventry Twp., Pottstown, husband of the late Edith P. (Pearson) McCarthy, died on Monday January 8, 2018 at his Residence.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Charles J. McCarthy Sr. and the late Grace (O’Neill) McCarthy.

Charles was a graduate of Pottstown High School class of 1944. He was employed as a constructi­on supply salesman with Eastern Industries of Allentown. Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Pottstown. He was a former officer of the Tri County Adult Center, and a founding member of the North End Swim Club. He was a member of the Pottstown Elks Lodge #814 and the YMCA.

Surviving are three daughters, Michelle wife of Burton Schaeffer, Auburn; Patricia wife of Douglas Lenhart, Pottstown; Colleen wife of Vincent Finazzo, Bensalem; two step sons, John P. Lloyd and his wife Arlene, Avon, CT; Mark C. Lloyd and his wife Susan, Pottstown; two brothers, Lawrence McCarthy and his wife Molly, Norristown; David McCarthy and his wife Madelyn, Daytona, FL. Grandchild­ren, Lisa; Burton; Jennifer; Jessica; Colleen; Vince; Michael and Alexis. Step Grandchild­ren, John; Beverly; Mary Kate; and David. Great Grandchild­ren, Dillon, Masson and Teagan. Step Great Grandchild­ren, Emily, Madelyn, Joseph, Patrick and Haley. Charles was also husband of late Virginia (DeHaven) McCarthy. He was predecease­d by two sisters, Barbara Ann Friel and Mary Lou Crone.

A memorial mass will be held 11:00 am on Saturday January 13, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Contributi­ons may be made in his memory to the Tri County Active Adult Center, 288 Moser Rd., RD#1, Pottstown, PA 19464.

Arrangemen­ts are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
