Gatsby’s at Sunnybrook closed until Feb. 6
Burst water pipe leads to repairs and a revamp of the menu
LOWER POTTSGROVE » Gatsby’s, the 1920s-themed restaurant at the Sunnybrook complex at 50 Sunnybrook Road in Lower Pottsgrove has become a victim of the recent frigid temperatures.
The restaurant was forced to close Jan. 2 due to a burst water pipe. The restaurant will remain closed until Feb. 6 to allow repairs to continue, as well a revamping of the restaurant’s menu.
“We had just had a huge New Year’s Eve gala and then we were closed on Monday. It happened when we were here on Tuesday, so at least it was when we were here,” said Holly Becker, marketing director for Sunnybrook LLC and Stokesay Castle & The Knight’s Pub.
The damage, according to Becker, was confined to the main entrance of Gatsby’s, in the main lobby of the restaurant near the hostess station. The ceiling needed to be taken down so workers could access the impacted pipes, she said.
Sunnybrook LLC President Chuck Gulati said the company will take advantage of the circumstances and will use the time the restaurant is closed to revamp Gatsby’s menu and offerings.
“Winter may have been cold to us, but we are just warming up. We are excited to say Gatsby’s is set to re-open Tuesday, Feb. sixth with a few new menu items and an enhanced dining experience sure to give our guests a roaring good time,” Gulati said in a press release.
According to Becker, one of the new items that will be available when Gatsby’s reopens is a raw bar.
In the meantime, The Sunnybrook Ballroom and other event spaces have not been affected by the pipe burst and are still available for current and future events, according to Becker. Gatsby’s continues to take reservations for its
Valentine’s Day dinner, Feb. 14. as well.
Sunnybrook LLC was formed in March 2015 when the Sunnybrook Foundation signed an agreement with Stokesay Castle owner Jack Gulati and the Gulati family to run the Sunnybrook Ballroom. A major renovation of the complex began in August 2015, although an official groundbreaking was held in June of that year with the operators of the dining and entertainment facility.
Sunnybrook reopened in March 2016. In addition
to a completely renovated restaurant and bar, a new, 15,000-square-foot wing was added to the complex, as well as new meeting and banquet space, a new kitchen and new ladies restroom. The new wing replaced a section that had to be torn down after the facility was closed for four years.
