Charles F. Schwager, 89, died on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Alice I. (Hoppes) Schwager whom he married on October 17, 1953.

Born in Boyertown, he was a son of the late Charles H. Schwager and the late Edna (Moyer) Schwager.

Mr. Schwager was employed at the former Union Underwear Mill in Bechtelsvi­lle as a foreman for 32 years and also was a weaver at Bally Ribbon Mill for 16 years.

Charles was a very active member of St. Joesph’s (Hill) Lutheran Church in Boyertown where he served on the cemetery board as the treasurer for 12 years and was also on the A team for the ECHO mailing and served on the worship committee. Additional­ly, he was a member of Bechtelsvi­lle Fire Company, the Bechtelsvi­lle Community Gun Club and the Pike Township Sportsmen’s Associatio­n.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by three sisters: Faye Rader, Doris Groff and Thelma Stauffer; two brothers: William S. and Ronald Schwager along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by two sisters, Arlice Surgeoner & Gloria Smith and a brother, Lee Schwager.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Joesph’s (Hill) Lutheran Church, 244 Koch Road, Boyertown, PA. 19512. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributi­ons be made to the church’s Memorial Fund in Charles memory at the address above. Morrell Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangemen­ts.
