Spring-Ford storms back, drops Perk Valley

The Spring-Ford boys basketball team used a 30-point outburst during the fourth quarter to roar back and claim a 63-57 win over Perkiomen Valley in a Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division matchup on Thursday night.

Perk Valley held a 44-33 lead after the third, but Noah Baker scored 17 of his team-high 21 points in the fourth to lead the charge. Harrison Pierce backed Baker with 14 points of his own while Nestor Diaz scored 11.

Zach Krause paced Perk Valley with a game-high 27 points on seven 3-pointers while Tyler Strechay scored 20. SOUDERTON 52, BOYERTOWN 43 » Kavi Ramchandan­i scored a game-high 22 points to lift the Big Red over the Bears in a non-conference matchup.

Souderton took a 24-20 lead into the half and expanded on it with a 14-8 advantage in the third quarter. Jerry Kapp led Boyertown with 16 points while Zach Benning added 10. VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 44, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 38 » The Wings dropped a non-conference matchup against Valley Forge Baptist.

Girls basketball

BOYERTOWN 46, OWEN J. ROBERTS 30 » Julia Smith and Avery Sweisfort both scored in double figures as the Bears beat the Wildcats in a PAC Liberty Division matchup.

Smith scored a game-high 13 points while Sweisfort was right behind with 10 points as Boyertown outscored OJR in each quarter. Olivia Leclaire scored a team-high eight points in the loss while Brooke Greenawald added six. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 58, NORRISTOWN 34 » The Eagles were no match for the Golden Knights’ high scorers during this non-conference matchup.

Maggie O’Hare scored a gamehigh 24 points while Erin Gallagher followed with 21 as Rustin jumped out to a 33-16 lead by the half. Tovy Wright led Norristown with 13 points while Morgan Culbreath finished with 10. VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 64, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 9 » The Wings suffered a non-conference loss at the hands of Valley Forge Baptist.

Boys swimming

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 103, BARRACK HEBREW 60 » The Panthers sank the Cougars in a Tri-County League meet.

Dustin Wheeler and Jeremy Amaro each had a hand in four first-place finishes. Wheeler took individual top honors in the 200 free and 100 back while Amaro finished first in the 50 free and 100 free. The pair each swam a leg of the 400 free relay.

Girls swimming

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 111, BARRACK HEBREW 48 » The Panthers swept through all events on the way to a TriCounty League win over the Cougars.

Angely Forsythe swam a leg of all three relays and also picked up an individual win, touching first in the 50 free.

Wrestling

UPPER PERKIOMEN 42, PHOENIXVIL­LE 42 » The Tribe picked up a PAC Frontier Division based on Criteria H, the number of total points scored in the first period.

The match featured nine pins and five forfeits with consecutiv­e wins by fall from Mike Milkowich (113), Matt Martin (120), Jared Kuhns (126) and Ryan Rossiter (132). After Jarek Svanson won by forfeit at 138, Zach Rozanski (145) and D.J. McIlvaine (152) followed with pins. Phoenixvil­le’s Antonio Valenteen (106), Alex Washington (160) and Bryce Thompson (170) all posted pins.
