Frederick Allen Johns, 66, of Punta Gorda, FL
Frederick Allen Johns, 66, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away December 25, 2017 after a short bout of cancer. He was born December 9, 1951 in Pottstown, Pa. to Joseph J. and Mary F. Johns.
Fred grew up in Pottstown, where he still has many friends. His zest for life and curiosity about the world sustained him through a wildly adventurous life.

Eventually, he wound up in Wyoming working the oil rigs, then the territory of Greenland working the DEW line, after which he spent 30+ years in Tucson, AZ where he and his wife Maureen founded Desert Starr Steel, a steel erection company. He travelled to Singapore, Viet Nam, Thailand, Cambodia and Bali, as well as Amsterdam, Italy and France. Finally, his long adventure brought him and Maureen to Punta Gorda, Florida to retire.
In the final months of his life, his family was fortunate to be able to spend time doing what he loved most: deep sea fishing, shooting guns, playing pinball, shooting pool, enjoying the beach, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and most importantly, enjoying a beer or two as he barbequed meals for friends and family
