McShea lifts Perk Valley past C.R. North

The Perkiomen Valley boys basketball team was in need of a miracle Saturday afternoon.

And they got one in the form of Conner McShea.

Down by two with 0.5 seconds on the clock, McShea hit a buzzerbeat­er 3-pointer off a full-court inbound pass from Tyler Strechay to lift the Vikings to a 52-51 win over Council Rock North.

McShea wound up with just five points, none bigger than his late heroics. Strechay scored a team-high 16 points for the Vikings while Zach Krause added 14. Perk Valley held a 39-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Brady Haggerty led C.R. North with 21 points. SPRING-FORD 60, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 53 » Noah Baker and Nestor Diaz combined for 31 points as the Rams beat the Titans in non-conference action.

Baker finished with a team-high 19 points, Nestor Diaz added 12 and Robert Bobeck added 10 for SpringFord, which held a 34-21 advantage at the half. Tommy Kuypers paced C.B. South with 19 points while Ian McCaw added 12. METHACTON 81, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 52 » The Warriors connected on 16 3-pointers on the way to a non-conference win over the Whippets.

David Duda connected five times from 3-point land on the way to a gamehigh 23 points while Brett Eberly added another five 3-balls on the way to 18 points. Noah Kitaw scored 17, connecting four times from deep as Methacton jumped out to a 34-16 lead by the half. Greg Barton led West with 17 points while Will Howard added 10. OWEN J. ROBERTS 69, DANIEL BOONE 59 » Shyheed May led a trio of double-figure scorers as the Wildcats downed the Blazers in non-conference action.

May finished with 21 points while Nick Massa scored 15 and Sean Praweckyj added 11 as OJR held a 31-23 advantage by the half. Chaunce Johnson led Boone with a game-high 27 points while Logan Hinkle scored 12. POTTSGROVE 51, SPRINGFIEL­D-DELCO 49, OT » Jason Hein scored 15 points to lead the Falcons to a wild overtime win against Springfiel­d (Delco).

Both teams were all even at 41-41 at the end of regulation, before Pottsgrove used a 10-8 advantage in the overtime period to seal it. Pottsgrove clawed its way

back into it with a 6-2 scoring edge during the third quarter. Khaliym Smith scored 11 points in the win while Jayden Blakey added nine.

Girls basketball

HILL SCHOOL 46, MERCERSBUR­G ACADEMY 15 » Alexa Giacche led all scorers with 15 points as the Blues dropped the Storm in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League showing.

Lexi Haas and Maia Lockhart added seven points apiece for The Hill while Bridget Mayza had six. Carrie Jornlin led Mercersbur­g with nine points. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 54, LOWER MERION 51 » Alex Blomstrom scored 11 of her game-high 22 points during the fourth quarter to give the Vikings a non-conference win over the Aces.

Blomstrom finished 11for-12 from the free throw line and added a trio of 3-pointers while Megan Jonassen scored 14 points and Taylor Hamm had 11. Perk Valley used a threepoint advantage in the final quarter to break open

a 35-35 tie after three quarters. Jasmine Forrester led Lower Merion with 20 points. POTTSGROVE 45, CONRAD WEISER 21 » The Falcons held the Scouts to singledigi­ts in each quarter on the way to a non-conference win.

Sydney Mowery accounted for a game-high 18 points for Pottsgrove, which used a 26-11 secondhalf advantage to seal the win. Riley Simon added seven points while Kyleah Holmes and Sierra Potts had six points apiece in the win. OWEN J. Cooper did most of her damage from the foul line where she finished 12-for17 while Sydney Tornetta and Jill Zerbe added eight points apiece. Methacton trailed 18-17 at the half, but blew it open with a 2819 second-half advantage. Raquel Curry scored 13 for Penn Wood while Carle Andrews had 10. SPRING-FORD 58, NEW OXFORD 31 » Cassie Marte led a trio of double-figure scorers as the Rams routed the Colonials in non-conference action.

Marte finished with 12 points while Lucy Olsen scored 11 and Abby Goodrich had 10 for SpringFord, which led 27-15 by the half. Daelyn Stabler and Jayla Brown added eight points apiece for New Oxford. JENKINTOWN 55, POTTSTOWN 34 » The Drakes were in control the entire way en route to a non-conference win over the Trojans.

Ebony Reddick scored a game-high 15 points while Julia Day added eight though Pottstown was outscored in each quarter. Jennifer Krem led Jenkintown with 14 points while Mia and Natalie Kolb added 10 points apiece.

Wrestling

SPRING-FORD 69, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3 » The Rams nearly posted a clean sweep through their non-conference meet with the Patriots.

Shane Reynolds (106), Quinn Tobin (113), Jack McGill (126), Dirk Nugent (132), Zach Needles (138) and Joey Milano posted pins while Brandon Meredith (120), Ben D’Arcangelo (152) and Michael Gradwell (170) won by technical falls. Gavin Hartman posted a 6-4 decision at 145 and Louis Carbajal posted a 1610 decision at 195. East’s Trent Petro posted his team’s lone victory, a 3-1 decision at 285.
