Substance violations top crime in past week

POTTSTOWN » Drug and alcohol violations were the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

Nine incidents involving substance abuse violations were reported since Jan. 30, according to crimemapping.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area. Of those incidents, seven were reported cases of drug possession on the 400 block of East High Street, the 300 block of King Street, the 300 block of East High Street, the 1500 block of East High Street, West 10th Street, East High Street and another on High Street. One incident was a reported drug sale on the 100 block of North Charlotte Street while a case of public drunkenness was reported on the 400 block of East High Street.

Assault was the second most reported crime in Pottstown, with five incidents of non-aggravated assault. These cases were reported on West Fourth Street, the 600 block of Walnut Street, the 400 block of East High Street and two additional incidents on unspecified blocks of East High Street.

Vandalism, theft and burglary were each reported twice since Jan. 30. Criminal mischief was reported on the 700 block of Farmington Avenue along with a case of criminal mischief to vehicles on Johnson Street. Burglaries involving forced entry were reported on the 200 block of North York Street and the 300 block of North Evans Street. Two thefts from buildings were reported on North Penn Street and the 500 block of Spruce Street.

Robbery, fraud, DUI, vehicle theft and harassment were all reported once since Jan. 30. A robbery was reported on the 200 block of East High Street while fraud was reported on the 1300 block of South Street. A DUI was also reported on South Street while a vehicle theft occurred on the 500 block of East High Street and a case of harassment was reported on the 500 block of King Street.
