Joseph ‘Jay’ Mayk Jr., 71, of Lower Pottsgrove

Joseph “Jay” Mayk Jr., 71, of Lower Pottsgrove, husband of Josephine (Wetzel) Mayk of 51 years, passed away Saturday February 3, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville.
Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Genevieve (Corbett) Mayk.
Jay served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a lineman for Verizon for 28 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Lower Pottsgrove Sportsman’s Club, Pottstown Quoit Club, the VFW in Royersford, and the American Legion in Boyertown. He was an avid reader of history, and his hobbies included woodworking, photography, restoring antique cars, and collecting vintage cameras, model trains and radios.
Surviving along with his wife Josephine is one son Joseph E. Mayk, husband of Brenda of West Chester; two daughters Jennifer R. Delp wife of Gregory of Pottstown, and Colleen Mayk-Fisher of Spring City; nine grandchildren, Caroline, and Erin Mayk; Bryan, Bailey, Rebecca, and Riley Delp, Nathan, Jack, and Michael Fisher; one brother William Mayk of Pottstown; and two sisters Mary Catherine Fell of Silverdale, and Margaret Mayk of Rochester NY.
Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown is in charge of arrangements.
