Substance violations lead crime in past week

POTTSTOWN »Drug and alcohol violations are the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a policerun website used to inform the public about crime in their area, six incidents involving drug or alcohol violations were reported since Feb. 6. Four of those six cases were reported drug possession incidents on Grant Street, the 200 block of High Street, the 600 block of Beech Street and East High Street. One drug sale was reported on the 300 block of East High Street while public drunkennes­s was reported once on the 700 block of Farmington Avenue.

Harassment and assault were each reported five times over the past week. Harassment cases were reported on the 400

block of King Street, the 200 block of North Charlotte Street, Union Alley, the 200 block of Prospect Street and the 500 block of West Street. Four non-aggravated assaults were reported on the 300 block of Chestnut Street, the 900 block of North Hanover Street, the 400 block of South Street and another on North Hanover Street. One assault with a dangerous weapon was reported on North Franklin Street.

Theft was reported three times over the past week including a theft of auto accessorie­s on the 1500 block of Queen Street and two thefts from buildings on the 700 block of Farmington Avenue and the 1000 block of South Street.

Two weapons offenses involving knives were both reported on the 400 block of East High Street while one DUI was reported on the 300 block of Manatawny Street and a case of fraud was reported on the 600 block of Upland Street.
