SALT Performing Arts presents Shrek Jr., Feb. 16 through 25. Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek Jr., based on the Oscarwinning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek Jr. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

Shrek Jr. is the second youth Mainstage production produced by SALT Performing Arts and the first professional all-youth production whereby the performers are all paid. Over 100 talented young performers auditioned for the 25 slots. The cast is made up of both SALT veterans and newbies; all young actors from Chester Springs and the surrounding suburbs of Chester County.

Directed by Chelsea Barnett, Shrek Jr. runs approximately 75 minutes with an intermission. Concessions are available for purchase in the lobby from Cookies by Design before the show and during intermission. Reserved seating is offered. Children ages 2 and under who can sit on your lap are free. Adults are $17 and Children ages 12 and under are $15. On our Friday evening and Saturday morning performances, patrons have the option to purchase a delicious Chick-fil-A boxed meal with your ticket (Adults are $24 with the meal and Children are $20 with the meal). Handicap seating is also available. Tickets can be purchased at: http://www.saltpa.com/ shrek-jr. Please note: all ticket sales are final.

“I couldn’t be more excited for this production of Shrek Jr.,” comments Lauren McComas, SALT Artistic Director and President. “Our cast is made up of some of the most talented and energetic kids around. They’ve pushed themselves to get each scene, dance, and joke just right resulting in a production that is both hilarious and heartwarming. Our beautiful and whimsical costumes combined with our fantastical set ensure a completely visual delight, as well.”

Production Staff: Chelsea Barnett, director/choreographer; Brigitte Rottman, music director; Brad Deleone, assistant director; Genevieve Kull, stage manager; Kathy deVries, costume designer; Tom deVries, set designer; Lauren McComas, producer.
