Contemporary artist Mary Kane to speak about her art
Mary Kane will talk about the works in her current one-woman show at the Boyer Gallery of The Hill School, about how her style developed and the process of creating her paintings, which she says is, “Compose… Simplify… Eliminate the unnecessary… Calm down… Open up…Stop judging it… be decisive… Don’t erase… Keep it fresh… STOP!!”
So … When is the painting finished? Come learn her perspective on that question.
Pottstown Area Artists Guild is sponsoring this talk. It will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boyer Gallery at the Hill School Center for the Arts at 766 Beech Street near the intersection of Beech and Sheridan streets in Pottstown. This event is free and open to the public.
The award-winning artist began painting at an early age, always loving the patterns she saw in nature and thinking outside the box. She obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree from Ohio State and continued her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and then the American University. After teaching art in public and private schools, she moved to Philadelphia to continue her art studies and to layer on more experience and gain confidence in painting while moving from realism to abstraction.
