I see where Boyertown’s Memorial Stadium is crumbling and they’re spending $16,700 to have some engineering firm conduct a test. You know what, if I see something in my house is crumbling I don’t need to spend $16,000 to figure it out. I just get it fixed. It’s another example of how they waste taxpayer money.

A Jan. 28 editorial on gerrymandering might lead one to conclude that the League of Women’s Voters is something other than an extremely liberal organization. That it has aligned with our socialist governor and similarly disposed State Supreme Court Majority is not surprising. Mark Furlong For decades Pottstown individuals and companies have put millions of dollars into our Y. Now Philadelphia YMCA is going to throw away all of our investments. Pottstown population is 27 percent children, 16 percent seniors and 25 percent minorities that will lose the Y. The other Y in Eastern Montgomery County is 9 percent children, 5 percent seniors and 4 percent minorities. The Y is ignoring their mission. This is for Bob Not From Mont Clare, fairy tales today don’t start with “Once upon a time,” nowadays they start with “Fellow Americans, if I am elected...” That’s the real fairy tales. Bob from Phoenixville There is no room for haters in America.

Donald Trump plans to take the food stamps away from us and give us government food in boxes. Just give us boxes of food and whatever they have that’s what we eat whether we can eat it or not. I’m not voting for another Republican and I will not vote for a Democrat, I never vote for a Democrat, but Donald Trump does not get my vote anymore. That is the cruelest thing he could do.

The Republicans are now the spend, spend, spend party. Where is the Tea Party? According to the Senate Republicans they are dead on arrival. They lasted as long as the Democrats were in charge who they could blame. Now that the Republicans are in charge they just write blank checks that they use to blame Democrats for. They just added 13 percent to our deficit. Clark S. Kent

We’ve experienced 87 school shootings since Donald Trump took office. All he does is send thoughts and prayers. We need guns harder to get. The NRA spent $30 million electing Donald Trump Jay Miller

We do not have a mental health problem. We have an NRA problem. Republicans should stop favoring the NRA and join the Democrats for a complete ban on assault rifles. No one goes hunting with an assault rifle. A Concerned Parent

I was reading in The Mercury that President Trump is going to try to raise our price for gas. We had our price raise for gas and it’s been that way ever since Corbett was in. I think it’s an OK idea if it passes but not for us because we had ours raised already. That’s unfair.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of an old fire extinguisher? It’s a small red Kidde and it says 1985 on it. I found it in the back of a closet. I know I can’t put it out in the trash and I don’t know how to get rid of it. So if someone could help me and let me know where and how to do this?

This is for West Pottsgrove. Is there a code enforcement officer in West Pottsgrove because it sure doesn’t look like it. With all the trees that are falling down on houses and stuff and all the junk cars all over the place and everything else, if there is a code enforcement officer he sure doesn’t know his job. I’ve always thought our dogs chase the ball for fun. What if they only bring it back because they think I enjoy throwing it?
