Martie Wright Lobb, 89
Martie Wright Lobb, 89, born in Bryn Mawr, PA, was the daughter of the late Percy Edward Wright and Martha Vandegrift Wright Smith. After graduating from the A.D. Eisenhower High School, Norristown, PA in 1946, she worked for two law firms in Norristown. While living in Ardmore and Roxborough, she was a stay-at-home Mom. Martie and her children moved to Coventryville, Chester County in 1969. For almost 20 years, she was a secretary for Samuel W. Morris, Esq. and for the late Mrs. Samuel W. Morris, President of the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust. From 1990 to 1997, she was also the Executive Secretary for Marion Stroud Swingle, Founder of The Fabric Workshop & Museum, Philadelphia.
While living in Ardmore and Roxborough, she was very active in the Methodist Church with the Women’s Society and the Sunday School. Upon moving to Coventryville, she became active in the Valley Forge Chapter of Parents Without Partners, and served as President in 1976 and 1977.
For 34 years, she was an active member of the Coventryville UMC, where she served as President of the Trustees, Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the OWLS, Chairman of the Christmas Bazaar and the Historical Tour of the Village of Coventryville, Member of the Building Committee, Lay Leader, Prayer Circle Chair, and Financial Secretary.
Since 2003, she resided at Cornwall Manor Retirement Community in Cornwall, PA. She volunteered for the Cornwall Manor Retirement Manor Society, and served as Vice President, managed the Thrift Shop for several years, and hosted fellowship activities for fellow volunteers. She served on the Cornwall Manor Marketing Team as a campus tour guide, hosted the Food for Thought Seminar regularly, organized donations for the Benevolent Care Fund, headed the Tasting Table at the Fall Festival, and volunteered year round at the former Health Center. She also spearheaded the Food Donation activities, which served the Lebanon Ministries, volunteered at the campus library, and created campus activities that supported Jubilee Ministries.
Martie was a long time member of the UMC of the Good Shepheard, in Lebanon. As an active member, she was a member of a K group, and created Martie’s Mission in 2017 to support the Ministries of Lebanon Prison.
Martie was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, William, and Russell Wright. Surviving her are four children: Barbara L. Hill, Quakertown; Nancy Mosteller-Harten (Judd), Louisville, KY; John W. Lobb (Mary), Spring City: and Susan L. Lobb, Douglassville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
A service of celebration will be held in Zerr Chapel at the Cornwall Manor Retirement Community, Cornwall, PA on Friday, February 23rd at 3 pm. A second service of celebration will be held on Saturday, February 24th at 11:30 am in the Coventryville UMC, Route 23, Coventryville, Chester County, PA.
