Raymond S. Overdorf Jr., 89, of Royersford

Raymond “Ovee” Overdorf Jr., 89, lifelong resident of Royersford, husband of the late E. Jessie (Gordon) Overdorf, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Raymond S., Sr. and Edith Roberta (Stepp) Overdorf.

Raymond excelled in high school sports and played minor league Baseball for the Cardinals. He served in the US Air Force. Ray was employed by Jones Motor Company for over 30 years as a truck driver and after his retirement enjoyed working as a playground aide at the Royersford Elementary School. As an active member in the Royersford community, Ray was an officer of the Band Auxiliary at Spring-Ford High School, a volunteer groundskeeper for Spring City American Legion baseball and an avid bowler and golfer. He was also a member of the Royersford United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons David Overdorf husband of Debra of Boyertown, and Robert Overdorf husband of Pamela of Pottstown; two daughters Carol Gerges of Royersford, and Diane Murtha wife of Sean of Linfield; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Along with his wife and parents, Raymond was predeceased by his sister Joanne Mooney Batten.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford. Interment will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30-10:15 AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to Royersford United Methodist Church, 380 Church St., Royersford, PA 19468.
