PECO working to address outages

-

Heavy rain, snow and severe winds, gusting up to nearly 60 mph, interrupted electric service to more than 375,000 PECO customers across the region.

PECO has activated its Emergency Response Organization and all available personnel are responding to safely restore service as quickly as possible, the company said. It has also enhanced staffing in place in the company’s call centers, dispatch centers and in the field to respond to customer needs.

As of 6 p.m., Friday, about 275,000 customers remain without service with approximately 100,000 customers already having service restored. With storms continuing to move through the region and the potential for damage to the electric system, it is too early to determine when service will be restored to all customers. PECO crews will continue to work around-theclock to assess the damage and make repairs in a safe and efficient manner, the company said Friday.

“Safety is our top priority, for our employees, our customers and the communities we serve,” said PECO in a release.

Statewide, approximately 445,000 customers remained without power on Saturday, down from nearly 600,000 customers affected at the peak of the storm Friday night.

PECO is urging customers to stay away from downed wires and assume any downed wire is energized.

To report an outage or downed wire, call 1-800841-4141 or report and track through our mobile app or their website at www.peco. com.

PECO suggests the following steps to prepare for outages:

• Have a flashlight with fresh batteries on each floor of your home.

• Have a supply of bottled water and easy-to-prepare, non-perishable foods available.

• Charge cell phones and other mobile devices.

• More tips are available at www.peco.com.
