Watching some news on TV and in the papers, I looked at the trial for Bill Cosby and it suddenly dawned on me, the money being spent on that trial would have paid my school property taxes for the next 137 years. Did I miss something? Night Light

Thank you Tom Hylton for the history of the Pottstown YMCA. Add to it the fact that the swim coach was gotten rid of and 200 swim team families followed her and walked out too, further draining the coffers. A Former South Pool Swimmer

I think we’re looking for answers in the wrong places. Good men don’t kill people. It all stems from a rejection of God all the way back to Cain and Abel. This is not a weapon problem, this is a heart problem and can be easily solved by following the two greatest Commandments of love of God and love of fellow man. A good start would be for the Supreme Court to correct their mistakes of the 60s. Info Depot

To a senior citizen who cares, no one wants to pay taxes but they are a necessary part of living in a democracy. Stop crying, don’t give the word “senior citizen” a bad connotation. Bob Not From Mont Clare

What a sin, in a few short days I will be turning 100 and I’m still paying high taxes. What for? There’s no businesses in town. There’s no stores in town worth going into. There’s lousy streets, lousy sidewalks. Where’s the money going to, into education? We would never know it by the mentality of the children that are coming out today. I am very disgusted. I think once you reach a certain age you should be taken off the taxes or at least a few.

On Channel 6 news they were showing all this snow and they showed two New Jersey police officers shoveling the sidewalk and putting the snow in the road. Now why can police shovel the snow into the road when it’s against the law for a regular person to shovel the snow into the road? Why is everybody else who is not a regular person allowed to do things and not get in trouble?

Since Trump became president tourism has fallen off 4 percent. That cost the country $4.6 billion and 40,000 jobs. Jay Miller

To dispel any misconceptions the comparison I made in my last Sound Off was not an NRA quote. It was strictly my own. Also an M16 military weapon fires either automatic or a three-round burst. The AR-15 fires semi-automatic. To set the record straight, I am a former Marine. By the way, to the person who signs off as A Veteran, thank you for your service. Dennis A. Biggs

Hey Donald Trump supporters, you say you voted for Donald Trump because you wanted to see a change in the normal way this country has been run in the past. Well you have your change with all-out chaos, controversy, mayhem, lies and a complete lack of institutional values that have been routinely respected in the past. What you have is a one-man show which is doomed to failure. Be careful what you wish for in the future. KM

Had Trayvon Martin and Nikolas Cruz been incarcerated for their crimes, the former and 17 innocents would likely be alive. All were victimized by a Broward County social justice agenda which placed the interests of criminals before those of the public. Obama adopted this formula as his own nationally and the results have been predictably violent. Mark Furlong

Wake up Lower Pottsgrove residents, carefully watch what’s going on. Why does Lower Pottsgrove need to build a new township building? Our current building was built in 1990 and is just fine. Our taxes were already raised this year in January for the purpose of buying the lots they’re closing on in March. We as residents need to say no to the board of commissioners to erect a township building on the lots they are purchasing. This will only raise our taxes again. Let’s get involved

I’d just like to say to Ray, the owner of Performance Specialty in Pottstown, you’re truly missed. You definitely helped improve the downtown Pottstown area. Thank you very much. God bless you.

Have you read the news from Washington? “Senate advances proposal to weaken banking rules.” Hold onto your wallet. The 2008 economic crisis is getting ready for a rerun. Gene

With all the corruption in Washington they’re going to have to build more jails for the people that are constantly getting fired or in trouble. Well that will create more jobs.
