Substance violations top crime this week

POTTSTOWN » Substance violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, drug and alcohol violations were reported five times since March 6. Four of those five cases involved drug possession reported on the 600 block of North Franklin Street, an additional case on North Franklin Street and two cases on the 700 block of North Washington Street. One case of public drunkennes­s was reported on East High Street and one drug sale occurred on Beech Street.

Assault and theft were both reported four times over the past week. Assaults were reported on South Hanover Street, the 100 block of King Street, West Third Street and the 100 block of North Adams Street. Thefts from buildings occurred on the 300 block of West High Street, the 500 block of North Franklin Street, the 300 block of East High Street and the 200 block of East High Street.

Harassment was reported twice in the past week, with incidents occurring on the 500 block of King Street and the 400 block of West Buttonwood Street.

Weapons offenses, fraud and vandalism were each reported once. A weapons incident was reported on High Street while an incident involving fraud was reported on North Evans Street. One case of vandalism to buildings was reported on North Adams Street.
