Police charge man with drug, gun offenses

Police have arrested a man after he was found in possession of an illegally concealed firearm and marijuana.

Lower Pottsgrove Police observed a black Chevrolet being driven westbound on East High Street near Heritage Drive without any lights on at approximat­ely 9:52 p.m. on Wednesday March 14.

Officer Ryan Smith stopped the vehicle in the 2000 block of East High Street and identified the driver as Oscar Dunn, 27, of Norristown.

Smith immediatel­y detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to police reports. Upon removing Dunn from the vehicle, he was found to be in possession of a loaded Taurus .45 caliber handgun concealed on his body, police said.

Police said Dunn does not have a valid license to carry a concealed weapon. He was also found to be a person not to possess a firearm.

In addition to the firearm, Dunn was found to be in possession of marijuana that was packaged for sale, according to police. He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited to possess a firearm, possessing a firearm without a license, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and related offenses.

He was transporte­d to Montgomery County Correction­al Facility to await arraignmen­t.

Police say an adult female passenger in Dunn’s vehicle could also face charges pending further investigat­ion. Police allege she was in possession of a controlled substance and was endangerin­g the welfare of three children that were in the car at the time of the arrest.
