Take a look at what friends and neighbors have to say about local hot topic and join in on the conversation.

My fellow Mercury readers, have you noticed in town they spent money on the shiny new traffic lights with the shiny new “No Turn On Red” signs and the crosswalk lights that count the seconds down? Now real progress could be made on this issue if they could only teach the people what these devices mean, and I’m not holding out a whole lot for that to ever happen.

If law enforcement and district attorney offices ignore anonymous drug activity tips on their drug hotline is that a good thing or a bad thing? Is that helping to stop drug activity or is that allowing it? Maybe laws should start changing and stop ignoring tips.

Democrats are at it again trying to destroy President Trump by telling the Stormy story which happened long before President Trump became president. He was not in the White House like President Clinton was when it happened. Give up and accept Hillary’s loss.

We don’t need another politician to get paid and do nothing.

We would like to know what’s going on with the paper recycling boxes in Bally at the municipal building as well as at the Boyertown Senior High School and the church on Route 100? These boxes have been stuffed and overflowing with signs on now that say that you can’t put anything in. So if you want us to go green don’t you think that maybe somebody should be emptying these boxes so we can continue to recycle? I hope that someone reads this and gets them emptied.

The demolition of the Capital Plaza Tower in Kentucky’s capital looked exactly like the Twin Towers on 9/11.

The only question I have about the Uranium One deal is how most Americans are worried about Russia hacking their internet but not handing them uranium that will be used for weapons against us. But then handing the largest funder of terrorists, Iran, billions doesn’t seem to bother the majority either.

Has Indiana University of Pennsylvania joined the ranks of educational gulags? Without due process or a presumption of innocence, the school expelled a student subsequently acquitted of rape. In a separate incident on gender, it suppressed an opposing point of view with explicit threats. Until this university and others like it abandon their totalitarian ways, taxpayer funding must be frozen.

This is to Steve in Sanatoga about the post office. Maybe you put your mail out too late and that’s why it wasn’t taken. I never have a problem with the Pottstown Post office and I’ve been living here for 30 some years. So maybe you don’t have your time right when you put your mail in your mailbox. Don’t blame the post office.

I used to think highly of Geno Auriemma but I lost a lot of respect for him last week. His UConn women’s basketball team had a halftime lead of 43-5 yet he opted to make very few substitutions until the end of the third quarter. I’m sure that his non-starters work very hard in practice and should have been rewarded by having them play the entire second half.

Students across America staging gun protests all sounds good but also well orchestrated. Lots of corruption running rampant in our America isn’t there? What underground connection is running this orchestration, the Democratic Party perhaps or Obama’s silent organizations that he was so fond of? Let’s put him under the microscope Jay.

On Wednesday there were lots of high school students across the country that went out and protested for 17 minutes about the gun violence in this country. Sounds like a good idea but again I wonder how many of these young people that are involved in this are ones that bully and intimidate their own classmates or when they see somebody maybe eating lunch alone make fun of that person with snide remarks and things. So again it works both ways. We’ll see what happens.

A few months ago I spoke with the new mayor of Pottstown and she asked for suggestions regarding the horrible conditions that the borough is in. I would just say try to keep the YMCA open at least. We’ve lost everything else downtown even The Very Best hotdog shop couldn’t stay open, but Mrs. Mayor try to get involved in at least to save the YMCA. Like I said before if we lose much more we’ll have no town left at all.

For these people who are not getting their mail in Pottstown and around the area, call Rep. Ryan Costello. That’s his job, he’s a federal government employee. Call Washington, Donald Trump said he’s going to make America great again. Did he make it great? All talk no action.

My bride and I considered buying a water bed but changed our minds. We feared it might cause us to drift apart.
