‘House Hunters’ episode features couple returning to home area
Liz Trout says it has been fun decorating the new home she and her husband, Jared, moved into last October.
This is the second house the couple has bought, and is larger than the first one, she said.
With more room for outdoor entertaining, they’re looking forward to the warmer spring and summer weather, she said.
The story of how they chose their current home is shown in the HGTV channel’s “House Hunters” episode running 10 p.m. Friday, March 23.
“It was a really cool experience to document the house hunting,” Trout said.
Part of the fun was having family and friends involved in the filming, which included scenes shot at her parents’ (Ed & Karen Deeny) home in Souderton, she said.
The episode title is “New Jersey Transplants Look for a Home in Pennsylvania.”
“We’re from Pennsylvania. We moved away for seven years and then
we moved back this year,” Trout said.
She was born in North Wales and moved to Boyertown in first grade, Trout said. Both she and Jared are Boyertown Area School District graduates, she said.
“New Jersey transplants want to move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to friends and family; he’s looking for a raised ranch style home with a rec room in the basement, while she’s hoping for a Colonial-style home with an open-concept living area,” show information says.
“We looked for houses all summer,” Trout said.
The search included 20 to 30 possible homes in Bucks and Montgomery counties, as well as the Lehigh Valley, before she and Jared made their choice, she said.
“We were having a hard time finding a house,” she said. “The market was very hot, and still is.”
Filming for the show took place last fall and was done over five days, she said.
The house hunters don’t see the show beforehand, so they’ll see it for the first time when it airs, she said.
“It’ll be interesting to see,” Trout said. “It was a fun process.”
