Hub C. Glenn
Hub C. Glenn, 76, passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born November 11, 1941 to the late Rev. & Mrs. Isaiah E. Glenn. Hub was baptized as a youth by the late Rev. Heywood L. Butler at Second Baptist Church.
Hub took delight in roller skating and dancing as a teen. He was a graduate of Pottstown High School where he enjoyed playing basketball as a member of a winning team.
He was employed for over 30 years at B.F. Goodrich Tire Co. until it closed in 1986. Hub was a past State President of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World (I.B.P.O.E.W.) He also was a member of the Pottstown N.A.A.C.P. for many years.
Hub was an avid horticulturist. He nurtured and grew dozens of various plants and flowers inside his home and outside on his porch. He truly had a knack for growing plants and was gifted with a “green thumb.”
Hub loved to laugh and was very caring. He was a sharp dresser and could wear a hat. His mother often remarked, “Hub, you are cleaner than the board of health today!”
Hub is survived by four sons: Anthony Wright (Tracey) of Richmond, Va., Clifton L. (Tanya) Glenn of Pottstown, Colin (Mary) Glenn of Scranton, Pa., and Christopher Glenn of Norristown, Pa.
Hub was one of nine children and is survived by three sisters: Berwindale J., widow of Marvin
A. Whitehurst, Sr.; Arsonia M. Leisure, widow of Junius (John) P. Leisure I; Melvenna L. Santiago, widow of Jorge L. Santiago, H; three brothers: Rev. Dodge L. (Melody) Glenn of Harrisburg, Pa.; Bronk D. Glenn; Gregory I. (Anne) Glenn; special granddaughter and caretaker, Shauna Glenn of Pottstown; six additional grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Hub was predeceased by a brother, Sage E. Glenn; a sister, Loretta L. Flynn; and goddaughter, Glenda Joy Satterwhite.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Second Baptist Church, 507 N. Adams Street, Pottstown, Pa. The viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The service will commence at 11 a.m. Rev. Roland H. Anderson II, is officiating.
