POTTSTOWN » There may still be snow on the ground but that didn’t stop Pottstown children from enjoying the first weekend of spring.

Families were out and about Saturday enjoying the sunny weather and making their way up and down East High Street to enjoy the downtown Pottstown egg hunt. Kids, sporting their bunny ears with Easter baskets in tow, could walk along East High Street and collect Easter eggs from a handful of participating businesses. Along the way, they could enjoy crafts, food, face painting and, of course, a visit with the Easter Bunny.

PHOENIXVILLE » The Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area has announced it will be open the first Saturday of each month.

Hours on First Saturdays will be from noon to 2 p.m., starting in April. Visitors will be able to access the archives and the museum in order to conduct research, learn about the history of Phoenixville, and view exhibits on display.

“We are excited to be able to open our doors to the public on First Saturdays,” said Society President Anni Weden. “This allows additional time each month for our visitors to take in the rich history of our town, to learn more about their heritage, and enjoy our special exhibits throughout the year.”

The current exhibit featured in the museum, entitled “The Greater Good: A History of Community Organizations Giving Back in Phoenixville,” runs until the end of June. It was created in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and highlights some of the different charitable organizations that show our town has heart.

The mission of the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area is to identify, collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate materials and information pertaining to Phoenixville area history in order to assist and educate the public in understanding and appreciating their Phoenixville area heritage and how it relates to their lives.

For more information about the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area, visit www.hspa-pa.org. The Society is located at 204 Church St. in Phoenixville, and is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the first Friday of each month from 6 to 9 p.m., the first Saturday of each month from noon to 2 p.m., and the first Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m.
