Methacton baseball drops Hatboro-Horsham

The Methacton baseball team crossed six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday to put the clamps down on a 12-8 nonconfere­nce win over HatboroHor­sham.

Demetrio Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run while Logan Rambo (run scored), Chris Douglas (run scored, three RBI) and Morgan Heckler (two runs scored, two RBI) had two hits apiece. Zack Griffin picked up the pitching win in relief, scattering two unearned runs across 1-2/3 innings. Lukas Jordan pitched the final two frames. OWEN J. ROBERTS 10, GOVERNOR MIFFLIN 3 » The Wildcats were all over the Mustangs on the way to a non-conference win.

Andy Blum finished 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBI while Jack Rinehimer had a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Ryan Glenn got the start and earned the win, pitching three innings where he was tagged for one run on three hits. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 9, LAWRENCEVI­LLE 1 » The Panthers racked up 15 hits — four for extra bases — on the way to a nonconfere­nce win over the Big Red.

Jeremy Amaro finished 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored batting out of the 9-hole while Jayden Kemp finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Perk starter Carlos Torres was tagged for a run in the bottom of the first inning, but was solid otherwise, pitching six complete with just four hits and five strikeouts to his credit. Zach Smith closed it out with a clean seventh inning.

Softball

COATESVILL­E 18, PERKIOMEN VALLEY8» The Vikings gave up 14 runs in the final three innings on the way to a non-conference loss against the Raiders.

Ashley Bangert (run scored, RBI), Sela Fusco (run scored, three RBI) and Taylor Hamm (run scored, RBI) were all credited with triples in the loss. Jess Oltman pitched into the fifth inning but was done in by eight runs (three earned) on nine

DAUPHIN 1 » The Blazers scored eight runs in the fourth inning on the way to a five-inning rout of the Rams in non-conference play.

Elizabeth Nitka finished 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored while Sydney Hayes and Heather Hall both finished with two hits, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Taylor Henderson spun five innings of three-hit ball in the circle where she was tagged for one run in the fourth inning.

Boys lacrosse

HILL SCHOOL 12, PEDDIE 1 » Carter Page headed a quartet of multiple goal scorers for the Blues as they opened Mid-Atlantic Prep League play with a romp over Peddie School.

Page, who had a hat trick and one assist, was joined by the two-goal efforts of J.J. Pickard (one assist), Mike Nastasi and Carter Straub, with Ryan Maloney, Tres Munro and Alex Kiviniemi adding solo tallies. The Hill (1-3) demonstrat­ed improvemen­t in the categories of ground balls (25), shots (35) and face-offs (10), and its defense limited Peddie to single-digit shots on goal. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 5, WISSAHICKO­N 4 » The Vikings eared a three-goal first-period deficit and rallied back to claim a non-conference win over the Trojans.

Perk Valley scored two goals in the second and third periods, then scored the game-winner to break a 4-4 tie in the final period. Max Nice scored twice and added an assist while Brian Fehr had a goal and two assists. Nick Steele and Nick Pammer each scored once while Rob Farrington made 13 saves in goal. AVON GROVE 5, SPRING-FORD 3» Nick Chastain had a hand in three goals as the Red Devils dropped the Rams in non-conference action.

Chastain scored twice and added an assist as Avon Grove led the locals 3-2 at the half. Jarrod Marenger paced Spring-Ford with two goals while Ryan Rosenblum added a solo tally.

Girls lacrosse

METHACTON 11, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 » Sydney Tornetta had a hand in six goals as the Warriors blanked the Hawks in nonconfere­nce action.

Tornetta scored five times and added an assist as Methacton scored seven goals in the first half and four in the second. Mia Sheldon and Katy Benton each had a pair of goals and an assist while Macie McCarthy and Mackenzie Harvey each scored and added an assist. Rachel O’Toole made five saves in the win. WILSON 14, SPRING-FORD 12 » The Rams trailed the Bulldogs 9-4 at the half and didn’t have enough to rally back in this non-conference matchup.

Natalie Wechter paced Spring-Ford with four goals while Katie Metzler scored three along with two-goal games from Cassie Marte and Olivia Yeagle. Lauren Constantin­e finished up with a goal and an assist in front of Lauren Ruffo’s seven-save showing in goal. Genevieve Strobel and Kendall Duffy led Wilson with four goals apiece. PEDDIE SCHOOL 12, HILL SCHOOL 10 » Tatumn Eccleston had a hand in four goals as the Blues suffered a Mid-Atlantic Prep League loss against the Falcons.

Eccleston finished with two goals and two assists while Leah Forrest and Jess Ciarrocchi each scored twice. Hill trailed 5-4 at the break, though keeper Mariah Sweeney made nine saves in net. Jordan Baerga paced Peddie with four goals while Maggie Cleary had a hat trick.

WEST CHESTER INVITATION­AL » Spring-Ford came away with four first-place efforts from a 21-team field at the Golden Ram High School Invitation­al Friday.

On the girls’ side, Gabriella Bamford won the 3,200 in 11:41.41 and joined Emily Smith, Julia Vledder and Brooke Donaghue for gold in the 4x800 relay (9:45.89). In boys’ competitio­n, Jake Pajovich headed the javelin (159-2) and Jacob McKenna the 3,200 (9:48.30).
