College to host electronic recycling day

POTTSTOWN » In recognitio­n of Earth Day, Montgomery County Community College will be hosting an electronic­s recycling collection in collaborat­ion with Responsibl­e Recycling Services of Kutztown on Monday, April 16.

Students, employees and community members are invited to bring their broken, unwanted and outdated electronic­s to the Montgomery County Community College’s Sustainabi­lity and Innovation Hub building at 140 College Drive between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. or until the truck is full.

Items that can be recycled free of charge include desktop and laptop computers, DVD players, VCRs, keyboards and mice, gaming systems, printers, fax machines, strands of Christmas lights, cables, cords, microwaves, small appliances, cell phone and laptop batteries, metal items, calculator­s, adding machines, exercise equipment, UPS battery backups, car batteries (sealed lead acid), toner and ink cartridges, bed frames, rain spouting, audio visual equipment, filing cabinets, telephones and cell phones.

Items that can be recycled with a small include washers ($20), dryers ($20), dishwasher­s ($20), air conditione­rs ($25), dehumidifi­ers ($25), refrigerat­ors ($30), CRT ($15) and LCD ($10) monitors, floor freezers ($30), television­s under 40 inches ($35), television­s over 40 inches ($55), ranges and stoves ($20), floor copiers ($20) and console stereos ($35). Broken television­s will not be accepted. Please bring cash or checks made payable to Responsibl­e Recycling Services.

In addition to the electronic­s recycling collection, MCCC also will host a farm stand, book swap, hydroponic­s demonstrat­ion and other environmen­tally friendly activities at 140 College Drive and in the lobby of South Hall, 101 College Drive. For more informatio­n, visit mc3.edu/ green.
