PA state troopers to hold Camp Cadet this summer

DOUGLASSVI­LLE » The Pennsylvan­ia State Police in Troop L (Berks, Lebanon and Schuylkill counties) is currently seeking candidates for Camp Cadet.

Camp Cadet will be held at Camp Manatawny in Douglassvi­lle. Camp will be Aug. 12 to 18, 2018.

Camp Cadet is a police-oriented summer camp for boys and girls ages 12 to 15. All camp activities are supervised by a counseling staff of state and local law enforcemen­t.

Candidates must reside in Berks, Lebanon and Schuylkill counties.

Cadets selected will see presentati­ons by law enforcemen­t including bomb squad, SERT, patrol, K-9, aviation, FBI, computer crimes. Non-law enforcemen­t presentati­ons recently included have been water rescue and fire service. Cadets also participat­e in marksmansh­ip, swimming, horseback riding, volleyball, and kick ball.

Applicatio­ns can be found on line at campcadett­roopl.com or by stopping at any of the Troop L stations which are Reading, Hamburg, Jonestown, Frackville and Schuylkill Haven.

Applicatio­ns must be returned by May 31, 2017. Cost for camp is $100.
