Assault leads borough crime in past week

POTTSTOWN » Assault was the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, seven assaults were reported between April 10 and April 16. Two of the seven incidents involved the use of hands, feet and fists and were reported on North Evans Street and the 300 block of East High Street. The remaining five incidents all involved non-aggravated assaults and were reported on the 100 block of North Evans Street, the 500 block of North York Street, the 700 block of North Charlotte Street, the 400 block of Chestnut Street and the 700 block of North Franklin Street.

Drug and alcohol violations were reported four times over the past week with one drug sale reported on High Street and three cases of drug possession on the 1500 block of East High Street, the 1500 block of East High Street and the 600 block of East High Street.

Three thefts from buildings were reported since April 10. Those incidents occurred on Winding Road, the 500 block of North Franklin Street and the 600 block of Chestnut Street.

Fraud, burglary and vandalism were each reported twice over the past week. Fraud was reported on the 300 block of Walnut Street and the 100 block of King Street while vandalism to vehicles was reported on the 600 block of Spruce Street and the 400 block of May Street. An attempted burglary involving forced entry was reported on the 300 block of Chestnut Street and another burglary involving forced entry was reported on the 1000 block of East High Street.

Robbery, vehicle break-ins, harassment, DUI and weapons possession were each reported once over the past week. An armed robbery was reported on North York Street while a vehicle breakin occurred on the 200 block of Diamond Street. Harassment was reported on Chestnut Street along with a DUI on North Franklin Street and an incident involving possession of weapons on the 200 block of East High Street.
