PHOENIXVILLE » State Sen. Andy Dinniman announced that PennDOT plans to install ADA curb ramps at dozens of intersections in Phoenixville.

Construction is expected to begin early next year and will be completed in the summer.

“These are simple improvements that can make a tremendous difference in the daily lives of our residents and neighbors who are living with disabilities,” said Dinniman, who serves on the Senate Transportation Committee. “A vital part of upgrading our transportation infrastructure is ensuring that it is readily accessible to all and that includes our sidewalks, public transit systems, and train stations.”

The ADA curb ramps will be installed at the following intersections:

• Route 113 (Bridge Street) and Buchanan Street; Walnut Street; and Hall Street in Phoenixville.

• Route 113 (Franklin Avenue) and West High Street; Saint Marys Street; Rhoades Street; and Route 113 (Emmett Street) in Phoneixville.

• Route 113 (Emmett Street) and Queen Street; Ann Street; Green Street; Marshall Street; Airy Street; South Street; North Street; and Route 113 (Dayton Street) in Phoenixville.

• Route 113 (Dayton Street) and Grant Street; and Oak Street/Freemont Street in Phoenixville.

• Route 113 (Black Rock Road) and Bateman Drive; Riverwalk Drive; and Winding River Drive in Phoenixville.

The Phoenixville curb ramps come as part of a larger project to install nearly 140 ADA curb ramps at almost 50 intersections in Chester and Delaware counties. PennDOT has awarded a $946,676 contract to L.C. Cost Contractors to complete the project, which also calls for curb ramps in East Pikeland Township, Swarthmore and Ridley Township.
