First Presbyterian
Pottstown: There will be ordination and installation of officers during the 10:30 a.m. worship on Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 750 N. Evans St. Those ordained and installed for Elder are Bill Campbell, Kurt Holloway, Andrew Lane, Tim Peckham and Thomas Zeigler. Those ordained and installed for Deacon are Barbara Atkinson, Herb Barndt, Donna Rhoadarmer, Gary Rhoadarmer, Bonnie Skone, Richard Skone, Sally Stetler and Sandy White. Jr. Seekers will hike at Perkiomen Trail from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. An Electronic Recycling Event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 28, at the church. Items accepted for free are telephone systems, computers, scanners, fax machines, CDs/DVDs/Blue Rays, electronic motors, computer mice, VCR/DVD/ CD players, power supplies, computer boards, printers, flat screen monitors, paper shredders, floppy discs, keyboards, game systems and surge protectors. There is a charge for TVs, CRTs, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other such items. The entire community is welcome.

Pottstown: A Pot-Luck Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 N. Hanover St., sponsored by WELCA (Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). Phoenixville: A free movie night will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Grace Bible Church, 777 Starr St., featuring “Mully,” the story about a 6-year-old orphan who becomes the head of the world’s largest family.

Pottstown: Everyone is invited to attend the Service of Installation for new pastor, Nichole Jackson at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Pottstown: Kim Adamson will be guest minister at the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets. Church volunteers will prepare and serve the community meal at Emmanuel Lutheran at noon on Friday. The YAMS will host a trivia night at 7 p.m. on Friday. Come with a team or join one that evening. Pottstown: Springtime in Paris Fashion, Jazz, Hair Show will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 North Keim St. Donation $20. A barber, make-up artists and hair stylists will showcase their style of hair and make-up. It’s Youth Explosion Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with the Youth leading in worship and Young Sounds of Praise Choir singing. Spring City: Continuing with the 275th Anniversary Celebration, Penny Sallade will share her Memory Minute during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday at Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road. All are then invited to remain for a special social hour in Fellowship Hall.
St. John’s Lutheran
Phoenixville: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 355 St. John’s Circle, presents The Providence Chamber Orchestra, its resident ensemble, in concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday. The concert features the music of Franz Joseph Haydn. The program begins with his Overture to Il Ritorno Di Tobia, his first oratorio, composed in 1775. Successive oratorios The Creation and The Seasons are better known. It is followed by his Cello Concerto in C and features Danish born cellist Steve Kramer who started playing the violin at the age of three with his grandfather, and the cello at age 5. He made his debut at 12 years of age, playing as a soloist while touring with orchestras in Scandinavia. There is no charge although a free-will donation will be accepted.

Royersford: National Volunteer Week will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 367 Washington St., with Darlene Canning and Lorie Cannon sharing information on the American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity.
