UPPER DARBY » Police are asking for any information that could help them to find suspects in a gunshop heist that occurred in a desolate industrial park.

The burglars appeared to have used a circular saw to cut a hole in the roof of Double Action indoor shooting/ archery range and gun shop at 611 Industrial Drive, Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.

The burglary, which was discovered about 9 a.m. Monday, April 16, netted the thieves 22 handguns — 11 Rugers , nine Smith & Wessons, a Baretta and a Walther.

“They go inside and bust a case open. There were other firearms, but they just broke open the one case and bolted,” Chitwood said. “We processed the scene and brought (the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) because of the number of firearms.

The break-in occurred sometime after 6 p.m. Sunday, when the business closed for the day, and 9 a.m. Monday, when the owner arrived and saw the hole. A message left at the business Tuesday afternoon was not returned.

Investigators have obtained surveillance video, though it yielded limited information.

“There could be as many as four,” Chitwood said of the number of suspects.

While an interior alarm system was activated, Chitwood added, ““It never went off. Don’t ask me why.”

All missing firearms have been entered into the National Crime Information Center.

Anyone with information is asked to contact township police at 610734-7693.
