Sam Lindsay pitches Spring-Ford past Upper Perk, 6-2

It was a duel of Lindsays and unbeaten division leaders on Thursday afternoon.

When Spring-Ford and Upper Perkiomen met in a Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game, the league’s lone unbeaten record was at stake. It was also a pairing of pitchers with similar surnames: Samantha Lindsay for the Liberty Divisionle­ading Rams, Taylor Lindsay for the Frontier Division leader Indians.

Spring-Ford got the upper hand, riding a big early lead to a 6-2 victory. Samantha Lindsay was key to that outcome, throwing 5-1/3 innings of four-hit, seven-strikeout ball while Taylor Lindsay was touched for nine hits and four unearned runs.

The Rams got solid relief from Bri Peck, who worked 1-2/3 innings of two-hit, three-strikeout relief. As a result of their efforts, Spring-Ford (7-0, 11-1) got the bragging rights on UP (5-0, 8-2).

Noelle Reid and Jules Ryan each drove in pairs of runs to help Spring-Ford build a 5-0 lead through five innings. Taylor Lindsay came away as UP’s leading hitter, going 2-for-3. METHACTON 10, POTTSTOWN 0 » Caroline Pellicano threw masterful shutout ball while Nichole Dorn and Emily Kuberski swung the big bats for the Warriors in their PAC divisional crossover game with the Trojans.

Pellicano racked up 14 strikeouts in her five-inning stint, aided by a six-run second inning. Dorn and Kuberski each went 3-for-3, Dorn collecting a double and Kuberski a triple and three RBI. ning pitcher with two innings of no-hit relief from Katie Hurd OWEN J. ROBERTS 5, UPPER MERION 3 » Jordan Sylvia and Rylie Hijosh each drove in pairs of runs as the Wildcats weathered the Vikings’ late rally to win this PAC divisional crossover pairing.

Sylvia and Hijosh were among four OJR players with multiple hits, Madison and Morgan Twaddell each collecting a pair. Winning pitcher Sam Walsh scattered nine hits and struck out three in her completega­me stint. DANIEL BOONE 11, READING HIGH 1 » Mollie Maggs and Myndi Simmons each had two hits and three RBI to support winning Caitlin McCrone’s eight-strikeout mound work in the Blazers’ Berks Conference romp over the Red Knights. POTTSGROVE 4, GARNET VALLEY3» The Falcons were extended to 10 innings before they were able to prevail over Garnet Valley in their non-league game.

Kira Livezey pitched the entire game for Pottsgrove, striking out 10 in the process. GV forced the extrainnin­g scenario by scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings to erase the Falcons’ 3-1 lead.

Baseball

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 7, POTTSGROVE 1 » The Vikings crossed runs through the first six innings on the way to a PAC win over the Falcons. Conor McShea finished with a solo home run and three RBI while Mikey Gama (2-for-4) finished with a double, a run scored and an RBI. He also picked up the pitching win with six solid innings where he scattered one run on three hits and three walks. Zane Alderfer finished 2-for-3 with a run scored while batting out of the leadoff spot for Pottsgrove. BOYERTOWN 10, POTTSTOWN 2» Colin Maloney came off the bench and finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored in the Bears’ PAC cross-divisional win against the Trojans.

Evan Crowe picked up the pitching win with four full innings where he was tagged for two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk. He struck out three before handing it over to Jake DiCesare and Nolan Kline in relief. Timmy Dobbs was strong in relief for Pottstown. UPPER MERION 2, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 » Jonathan Eyer was the offensive star for the Vikings as they edged the Indians in their PAC Frontier Division pairing.

Eyer went 2-for-3 and drove in a run for UM, and Michael Hutchinson scattered two hits while striking out seven to get the pitching win. METHACTON 9, SPRING-FORD 3» The Warriors racked up 11 hits and eight RBI on the way to handing the Rams their first loss of the season.

Josh Dubost finished 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored while also picking up the pitching win with six solid innings. Jordan Lukas and Conor Smith each hit 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Grant Calvarese took the loss for Spring-Ford letting five runs (two earned) cross in three innings of work. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 14, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 0 » Sam Glavin hit a three-run home run during the Panthers’ 11-run fourth inning during this Tri-County League rout.

It was Glavin’s third straight game with a home run as Perk racked up 12 hits on the game. Glavin finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored while leadoff man David Smith was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Marc Molnar scattered two hits across four innings to pick up the win. WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 11, PHELPS SCHOOL 6 » Kevin Zvodar swung the big bat for the Wings in their TriCounty League victory over Phelps.

Zvodar went 3-for-5 and scored three runs for WestMont (2-6). OWEN J. ROBERTS 8, READING7» Home runs by Andy Blum and Jordan Siket paced the Wildcats in their comeback non-league victory over the Red Knights.

Boys lacrosse

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 15, WOODLYNDE 3 » QiYu Wang hit the nets for a game-high four goals, heading the Panthers in their Tri-County League victory over Woodlynde School.

Harrison Gavin chipped in with a hat trick for Perkiomen, and Chandler Gavin added a pair of goals as part of an offense that got scoring from nine different players. TWIN VALLEY 12, DANIEL BOONE 5 » Nolan Warner scored four goals and Eathan Warner and Zach Gardner added three each as the Raiders (3-5, 5-8) topped the Blazers (2-6, 6-6).

Justin Epps had two goals and two assists for Boone, which got another pair of goals from Rylan Darrenkamp.

Girls lacrosse

UPPER MERION 16, UPPER PERKIOMEN 9 » Molly Weygand scored seven goals, including the 100th of her career, to lead the Vikings over the Indians in their PAC Frontier Division game.

Hope Flack and Liz Fox each had hat tricks for Upper Perkiomen, whose other goals came from Courtney Bauer, Erika Boyer and AiYi Young. HILL SCHOOL 15, HUN SCHOOL 4» Jess Ciarrocchi had a game-high four goals, and Jordan Hower contribute­d a hat trick, to head the Blues’ Mid-Atlantic Prep League romp over Hun School.

Boys volleyball

An extended second-set victory was the lone one for the Blazers in their Berks Conference match with the Eagles. Exeter took the duel by set scores of 25-16, 3032, 25-20 and 25-22.

For Boone, Sean Zamichieli had 13 kills. Luke Degenhart added 18 digs and Colin Gabbet had another four digs.
