Perk School baseball returns to TCL final

Perkiomen School climbed out of an early deficit Thursday when it hosted Collegium Charter in Tri-County League baseball playoff action.

Their subsequent 10-3 victory enabled the Panthers to book their return trip to Monday’s TCL championsh­ip game.

The winners of 23 straight league titles had four-run innings in the third and fourth to swing the game in support of starting pitcher Zach Smith, who gave up three hits and zero earned runs in a complete-game effort. At the plate, Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, Sam Glavin had three hits and three RBI, Garrett Knowles had two hits and two RBI and Manny Ariza doubled and drove in three.

Perkiomen (7-0, 13-7) will face Barrack – a 7-6 winner over Renaissanc­e Academy in the other semifinal – in the final on May 7.

BOYERTOWN 11, POPE JOHN PAUL II 5 » The Bears pounded seven extra-base hits as they rolled over the Golden Panthers in their Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game.

Shayn Horrocks and Mike Hohlfeld both hit home runs for Boyertown, with Horrocks also getting a triple. Noah Kurtz threw 3-2/3 innings in relief to earn the win. Mike Kelly and A.J. Stento each had two hits for PJP. PHOENIXVIL­LE 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2 » After scoring all their runs in the second inning, the Phantoms held off the Wildcats to win this PAC divisional crossover pairing.

Brandon Fink drove in two of Phoenixvil­le’s runs, and Nick Opalkowski the third, to support Quinn Danna’s winning mound work. Ryan Sayers and Jordan Siket plated OJR’s runs in the fifth. DANIEL BOONE 7, OLEY VALLEY 4 » The Blazers pulled even with the Lynx through seven innings of their Berks Conference game, then scored three times in the top of the ninth to come away with the extra-inning victory.

Connor Cleaver scored on a Chase Lacey sacrifice fly in the seventh. Cleaver was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Chase Lacey went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and winning pitcher Carson Zuber and Tanner Vanderslic­e both tripled. Zuber pitched around a lead-off double in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Softball

OWEN J. ROBERTS 7, BOYERTOWN 4 » Morgan Twaddell drove in four runs to head the Wildcats’ plate attack in their come-from-behind PAC Liberty Division win over the Bears.

Sam Walsh was Roberts’ winning pitcher, scattering six hits with four strikeouts. Kylie Hertzler was Boyertown’s leading hitter, her 3-for-3 outing highlighte­d by a home run and double. DANIEL BOONE 12, FLEETWOOD 2 » Taylor Henderson pitched the Blazers to victory over the Tigers, scattering six hits and two runs over five innings while striking out three and walking one.

Girls lacrosse

BOYERTOWN 21, NORRISTOWN 1 » The Bears had 21 different goal scorers in their regular-season ending PAC win that shored up a spot in next Tuesday’s Pioneer Athletic Conference Final Four.

In addition to a goal, Kylie Webb had four assists, while Morgan Kline, Kristi Kada and Jen O’Connor had two each. The Bears, which led 13-1 at halftime, finished the regular season 7-3 PAC Liberty, 10-3 PAC and 12-4 overall. UPPER PERKIOMEN 10, POTTSTOWN 9 » Upper Perk made its 7-5 halftime lead hold up as Hope Flack surpassed the 200 career goal milestone in her three-goal, one-assist day while leading the Indians to a PAC win.

AiYi Young (two assists), Courtney Bauer and Bella Carpenter scored two goals apiece for UP while Makenna Phipps made seven saves.

For Pottstown, Ebony Reddick (4g, 1a), Da’zah Regusters (3g) and Abbie Krause (2g) handled the scoring while goalie Reilly Owens made 12 saves, including the 500th of her career. Mikes and Kendall Duffy both scored three goals, and four others had two each, as the Bulldogs cruised past the Blazers in Berks Conference play.

Courtney Gabbett accounted for Boone’s offense, her tally coming in the second half.

Boys lacrosse

WILSON 15, DANIEL BOONE 0 » Cameron Magalotti scored four goals and Jake Stitzel had three goals and one assist as the Bulldogs shut out the Blazers to wrap up their seventh consecutiv­e undefeated season in the Berks League.

Mason Lenart scored two goals and Matt Marrella had a goal and six assists for Wilson. Jared Glanski led Daniel Boone with six saves. QUAKERTOWN 18, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 4 » Harrison Gavin’s two-goal showing was the highlight for the Panthers in their non-league loss to Quakertown.

Paul Schlabach and Ali Abbas rounded out Perkiomen’s scoring.

Boys tennis

UNIONVILLE 5, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 » The Phantoms were swept out of the District 1 Team Championsh­ips by the Braves in their opening-round match.

The best individual showing for Phoenixvil­le came at second doubles, where its team of Nick Deluce and Dany Soh extended Unionville’s Clay Horowitz/Ethan Fitzsimmon­s team in a 6-2, 6-2 pairing.

Methacton also bowed out of the district team playoffs, with a 5-0 loss to Radnor.

Golf

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 147, RENAISSANC­E AC. 175 » For the second time in a week, the Panthers beat Renaissanc­e Academy in their Tri-County League match at Kimberton Golf Club.

Scoring for Perkiomen were Ben Griffanton (42), Thomas Dormer (47) and Jerry Chan (58).
