Methacton’s Suraesh and Santhanam win PAC Doubles Tournament

Krisham Suraesh and Harsha Santhanam validated their top seeding by winning the Pioneer Athletic Conference boys tennis doubles tournament Saturday at Perkiomen Valley.

Suraesh and Santhanam won two matches in straight sets to claim the title. Facing Perkiomen Valley’s Ryan Shayer and Farraz Haider in the semifinals, they posted 6-2 and 6-4 set wins. That advanced them to the finals against Spring-Ford’s Malchu Pascual and Nolan Schweitzer, who they dispatched in a 6-2, 6-3 verdict.

Pascual and Schweitzer, the tourney’s second seeds, moved into the finals with a three-set victory over Phoenixvil­le’s Graham Light and Danny Soh. Light and Soh took the first set 6-1, but Pascual and Schweitzer rebounded with 6-4 and 6-1 wins.

Graham and Light won the third-place match with Shayer and Haider, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. In the fifth-place playbacks, Methacton’s Max Markowitz and Krishna Pillutla topped SpringFord’s Nick Moore and Ben D’Arcangelo.

Baseball

DANIEL BOONE 2, PARKLAND 1» Brett Goodrich threw a complete game, allowing just two hits and one unearned run to lead the Blazers to the non-league victory.

For Boone, Carson Zuber (2-for-4, double, one RBI) drove in the first run with an RBI double in the fifth inning. The Blazers picked up a key insurance run in the top of the seventh when Mikey Gregos led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, and to third on a fielders choice. With two outs, Josh Piccarreta drove in what turned out to be the winning run with a single. BOYERTOWN 6, WILSON 5 » A four-run fifth inning was key to the Bears overtaking the Bulldogs and pulling out the non-conference victory.

Mitchell Peers drove in two of Boyertown’s runs, enabling it to overcome Wilson’s 2-1 lead. Gavin Henderson, pitching the final 2-2/3 innings in relief of starter Evan Crowe and Dave Hartman, got the win for the Bears (12-4).

Softball

DANIEL BOONE 5, OWEN J. ROBERTS 3 » Sydney Hayes and Caitlin McCrone each homered and drove in two runs to fuel the Blazers’ offense in their non-league victory over the Wildcats.

Heather Hall, pitching the first six innings, got the win for Boone with a fourstrike­out showing. Taylor Henderson hurled the seventh to nail down the win. BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 6, UPPER PERKIOMEN 2 » Amanda Geisinger went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, Haley Hertzog went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs and Naomi Faye went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs to lead the Bullets past the Indians in their non-league game.

Jenna Sullivan went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Upper Perkiomen (11-4).

Boys lacrosse

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 14, PENNCREST 10 » Brian Fehr’s 100th career goal highlighte­d his big performanc­e for the Vikings in their non-league victory over Penncrest.

Fehr scored four goals and assisted on three others as PV went on a 9-1 scoring tear in the second and third quarters to break a 3-3 tie. Connor Roop chipped in with two goals and three assists, and Max Nice and Nick Pammer each added pairs of goals. SPRING-FORD 9, HOLY GHOST PREP 8 » Jarrod Marenger netted a hat trick and two assists to lead the Rams past the Firebirds in their non-league game.

Ryan Rosenblum (one assist) and Nick Teets both scored twice while Peyton Gensler and Brad Hart added solo tallies. SpringFord went into the fourth quarter ahead 8-5, then had to weather Holy Ghost’s late rally. BISHOP SHANAHAN 12, BOYERTOWN 2 » Skylar Wallace and Christian Hellreigel did the scoring for the Bears in their non-league game with Bishop Shanahan, and Brady McFalls was credited with an assist.

Girls lacrosse

POTTSTOWN 15, DELCO CHRISTIAN 4 » Ebony Reddick hit the nets for a gamehigh six goals, leading the Trojans to victory over Delco Christian in their non-league outing.

Christina Butler, Emme Wolfel and Da’zah Regusters (one assist) contribute­d hat tricks. Jayla Holloway was also credited with an assist, and Reilly Owens with five saves. SPRINGSIDE-CHESTNUT HILL 11, HILL SCHOOL 7 » In a nonconfere­nce match-up and their final home weekend game of the regular season, the Blues fell off SCHA’s pace in the second half after playing all even at 4-4 in the first.

Giavanna Tabarrini had a hat trick to lead the Hill, which got a goal and four assists from Tatumn Eccleston. Mariah Sweeney had a 12-save day in goal for the Blues.
